    Using ATX PSU with Hitec X2 - Help!

    I'm trying to use an ATX power supply with my HiTec charger so I can get more amperage via the DC 12v rail. I'm grabbing power via one of the 4-pin connectors (showed 12v), but once the charger starts to pull around 8a+, it kicks out a 'low dc input' error. Both of the 12v rails on this PSU state they're 24a, so I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here (other than my currently janky connection to the wires).

    If you only pull out of 1 of the 2 rails you'll create an load imbalance and the PS won't be able to put out full power.
    the solution is to put a load resistor on the other leg 👍

      EDIT: I believe I just need to add a 10W/10Ohm sandbar resistor to the 5v rail?

        This is to power up the ATX, without a 10w load on the 5v the PS won't output anything (this is spoofing the board: no board connected, no output).
        I think your issues are because you have un-even load on the 12v lines.
        The PS output -12,0,+12v
        If the majority of your load is between 0 and +12, you will not be able to get full power output.
        There are a few solutions,but they all involve balancing the load ...
        You can put 1 charger between -12 & 0 and another between 0 & +13 and charge 2 battery at once.
        If your charger handle 24v, put it between -12 & +13 and charge 2 battery in series.
        Or use a step down transformer (some charger have it built-in) and go between -12 & +12 and feed it to the step down ...
