This Quar’s War: Clash of Rhyfles

Has anyone else on here tried this one? A buddy of mine are just starting out on it. I am brand new we to TT gaming like this, so it’s been interesting trying to learn the basic rules era, but this one seems pretty simple and easy to understand. I started out painting minis for fun and relaxation, and that ballooned into me actually playing some games now. I even went so far as to get behind a kickstarter for Slay the Dragon! Which should arrive in November for me. Otherwise, I’m having a blast painting the little anteater troops and battling it out. I am up to owning 4 different factions now, but I have finished all of the painting yet.

anyone else giving this one a go? Also, any recommendations for how to host a game via video/online feed for a distant friend who wants to get in on the action too? I’m new to all of this side of the gaming element and I’m lost as to where to start

Obviously they aren’t all finished and I still have a lot to do, but the little character models crack me up immensely. Sort of a spy vs spy vibe.

        Quar is cool.
I painted 40k back in middleschool and the Wife has been wanting us to get back into artsy hobbies.
So, i picked up some army painter sets and speed paint stuff.
I printed out a bunch of terrain and am in the middle of putting a table together.
i got Clash of Rhyflers and printed out some officers and the HMG crusaders.
Im more a fan of the older, pewter minis aesthetics. The Quar sculpts back then were lankier and things were "grittier".
The new stuff is fine but it just seems like the vibe went from "Vaughn Bode/ Franzetta WW1 'War is Hell' with scrappy Alien Anteaters" to "Roly Poly Little Quirky Guys!". They leaned real hard into the watercolor artwork they started coming out with for the rulebooks.
Heres some of my 'Long Neck' conversions and customized poses

mostly planning on just having basement games with the Wife and her friends. They run D&D style rpgs, just got done with DUNE.

I actually have a few of those pens that I’ve used on other minis. I’ve been trying to compliment whatever color I choose for the skin with colored dots for mine so far. Admittedly though it is hard to get those particular details looks crisp for every location. I will try out the pens and see if I can clean some of mine up though! One thing I’ve used with kine with good success has been small wooden skewers with just the pointy side dipped in paint. That’s how I’m drawing out stripes and spots on mine right now

As to other military games, I’ve already been eyeballing Bolt Action but I don’t want to spread my interests out too far just yet. That might just be next though

neat little is-Caerten i 'customized' last night.
was underwhelmed with the out of the box sculpts.
these guys are supposed to be LEADERS, the factory poses make em look feeble and awkward. not sure which is more lore accurate........
swapped the hatchet for a kitbashed sword for more of a "Crusader"-vibe
                  everything is drilled and pinned.
aaaaaaalmost happy with him. gunna swap some pouches around, maybe mess with the shotgun arm.
