For sealing the bearings, a NILOS ring is an add-on seal. Not sure which side this fits on, and whether you can get one for the other side.
A stiff grease shouldn't leave the bearing too quickly; if you reapply every six months or year you should be fine. Humidity will be the main reason it needs replacement for a hobbyist work schedule.
The barium soap (in the Isoflex NBU) is a bit sensitive on startup, though - I recommend turning the spindle by hand several times to "work" the grease before you go full speed, then spend a few minutes doing a minute on, a few minutes off, a minute on, a few minutes off... before trying to run at full speed for any length of time. This run in/ burn in helps channel the thickener without overheating, and will make the grease last ten times as long.
Edit: NILOS for the back side.
