I love that this lake is practically in my back yard. I get to fish there pretty much every week. It's not the easiest lake to fish, but it's peaceful and the scenery is beautiful. For a state park lake where the fish are really pressured, I'm just happy to get good bites when I can. Now that we're in the fall transition, we're in prime top water season. This guy was caught on a Whopper Plopper.

Topwater is the funest way to bass fish (in my opinion). That is amazing, you got it good....

Absolutely. I love topwater fishing more than any other method. Watching them explode on the surface is always a thrill.

I didn't have my phone on me today, but I caught a nice 15" rainbow trout just outside of the ice on the lake on my new St. Croix ultralight / Shimano combo.

Mrs Z holding up a salmon from Lake Michigan. Her dad owns/operates a charter, so we get lots of fun fishing in.

Finally got to fish a little bit this summer. I was shore fishing the St. Croix river last night and got a serious variety pack, and all on the same lure. A bluegill, bunch of small rock bass, a walleye, and on what was supposed to be my very last cast, a decent smallmouth. I ended up staying till dark after that.

Caught this guy over the weekend. It's the first bass I've caught on a fly. It's not huge, but it was fun to pull in on light tackle.

Thanks! It was a haul for sure, they both hooked up within a few minutes of each other, so we were pulling them in side-by-side. Took about 15-20 minutes to get them in.

A pretty good day today. I ended up catching about ten or so bluegill, one baby bass, and these two beauties. The largemouth weighed in at 2.25 lbs. and was caught on a jerkbait. The other guy was caught on a fly.
