Looks good JonM, one thing I started doing on a few patterns like caddis and stoneflies is tying in some wings out of Wapsi Swiss Straw. When it lays on the water it gives a really nice semi-transparent wing appearance. Click image for larger version

Picked up a Cricut to try out a few things fly tying related. Primarily foam cutting and maybe some wings in the future. Works pretty well even on some of the finer details, once tied any little imperfections blend right in. Messing around with a salmonfly pattern at the moment.

I finally had a good day throwing my own flies. My first ever fish on a self tied fly was underwhelming as it was only a two inch bluegill on a Walt’s worm. The day did get better and I caught plenty of fish today. I also learned the benefits and drawbacks of barbless hooks. I lost a few, but releasing them was so much easier on the fish. The barbless hooks also cost me one hell of a nice bass when it got caught up on my kayak’s anchor line. Still, it was a great fight with it going airborne several times.
