What in your opinion feels the same or close to as a 170r? High end to midrange?

Pe 170r feel

I have a buddy that shoots one. I like the way it feels it’s been very reliable shooter. All of the PE budget markers feel and shoot like high end markers. The Difference is purely cosmetic and a few more novelty features. But the 170R is a great marker my buddy put red grips on his basic black marker and it’s a great looking marker to.

Curious about this marker myself. Haven't played tournaments in over 15 years and pretty clueless about modern tech.
Like it because of being able to hook up a mech frame and play classic style w/o a rate lock for fairly short money.
Wanna play again this year but need something more lightweight than my old school boat anchors. Light and easy to switch hands is what I'm looking for. Smashed my wrist bad recently so that's vital.

I would buy an emek for Mech before I bought a 170R electro and a Mech frame honestly. I doubt I would ever switch frames back and forth. Not that you couldn’t I know I wouldn’t. For the convenience I would much rather invest in a second marker for not much more then the cost of the 170s Mech frame conversion kit.
But the 170R feel great in your hand. Its grip sits very close to the barrel line so they point really naturally. Grips are nice and thin like the newer CS markers. But at the same time that’s pretty much standard on the PE lineup now. I like them a lot if I was in the market for a new electro I would shoot one in a heartbeat.
You got a local Proshop or know someone local that’s got one? I’m sure someone will let you try it if you just ask.

Finding one in stock and getting to a store when they are open been a problem lately. Covid rules and what not. There's an HK 170R on the wall nearby that I might look at this week. Been hunting for a used one, a local one went too quick for me to react.

I think my local pro shop has a few on the wall. I’m sure they could ship it. MSG Paintball 845-457-4678 : msgpaintball@aol.com
Stuff has been selling fast lately with the weather getting nicer here.

As far as shot quality goes they are basically identical, and if you are used to shooting old school markers this will be drastically different. There is almost no shot feeling at all, very smooth.

Always liked the feel of Dye markers. There reliably is terrible tho. Newer ones are a bit better but I still see them go down regularly. I will admit Most of my hate of DYE markers comes from new markers I purchased years ago that were over priced paperweights. You ever try and order parts from DYE? (It’s a joke! order and pray) So I won’t ever buy one again.
Honestly I would rather have a ETHA then any of DYE’s top of the line markers. It’s going to work 100% of the time and if for some strange reason you break it you can get parts anywhere and fast if you can’t find them.
IMO Dye is good for hoppers and barrels. There Soft goods use to be great but even those have become garbage too. It’s so hit and miss with them I just stopped buying there stuff.

FWIW, I shoot a GMEK and just not a big fan of the feel. I feel like I'm top of the gun when I shoot it though. I need a drop of sorts that'll put my eye closer to the barrel line-of-sight.

I’d pass on the 170r if buying new, for that price ($900) you should be able to get just about any used high end of choice.
Just got back into paintnall and used an etha 2 last weekend. It performed flawlessly but I’m not in love with it by any means. going to use a m3s next game day, can report back after that.

I personally like the emek over the m170. I have big hands and the front of the m170 has this bump on the grips that don't really fit my hand.
Like others have said. Id go with an emek for mech if you want a modern mech.BeardedWorks.com (Your Inception Designs and Shocktech Dealer)
