A couple of quick questions about Angels

So I told one of my old teammates that I was going to play paintball again, and he decided to send me two of the Angels the old team played with. My old Cobra angel isn't among them but, a Dark Angel LCD and an Angel LED which is a win in my book.

The LED has no bolt, I vaguely remembering Angel bolts changing for the COPS rod, but that is all I remember, will any Angel bolt fit the LED?

The Dark Angel LCD has a discoloration on the anno, I might be willing to fix it up and make it look nice, but I recall there was some special Angel toolkit back in the day, can this thing be fully disassembled with normal tools?

Apparently these things come with original boards and batteries and worked well just a few years ago, but are there options out there still for these things? If the stock board works still I suppose a battery might be needed, but if it doesn't work are there still universal or angel boards on the market?

The LED bolt is shorter than the later generations. Looks like Jay still has them in stock.

There is a tool kit for Angels, the main ones you need are the Ram removal and LPR removal tools. They come up on eBay once in a while. In a pinch you can use snap ring pliers and a long bolt but I don’t recommend.

ZeroXTechnologies is awesome for batteries and their PPE board. He’s going through a move right now but if you contact him he may be able to help you out. Or Enoch is an awesome board as well just a few more dollars.

Keep in mind the board and electrical setup on the LED is unique when compared to all the later generations.

Thanks! This is exactly what I am looking for! I don't really know if I am going to restore these properly, or just make sure they work and sell them on but either way I want to be sure everything works before they leave me.

To be completely fair....unless you already have the tools and parts on hand to repair these you will likely have to send them out.
IMO, would hang these up and consider finding something else to dip your toes in playing.

Adjusting/removing the ram can usually be done with a pair of needlenose pliers if you are careful. Easiest way to remove the piston for the LPR w/o the tool is to remove the front cap, aim marker into some towels, gas it up, and piston will shoot right out. Make sure you don't lose any parts.

It is a good idea to have an LPR pressure gauge though, that is probably the most useful tool in the kit IMO. Especially on a rebuild.

I would, at a minimum, pull the batteries out of them. Often times if the left side tube has discoloration its due to acid from the battery eating away at the metal from the inside out. You can remove the battery with simple metric Allen keys. Look up videos on YouTube if needed, but do that soon otherwise you’ll end up with a paperweight.

So the markers arrived today, I am real glad I didn’t order any parts.

So I remember the teams Angel LED being something black with smooth edges no aggressive milling, single trigger, and having an intellifeed wire coming off it. This is the marker I expected.

instead it is a bright green angel with aggressive milling, having the swoop on the breech with jewel stickers with the Angel logo in a milled section of the breach. It has a double trigger and most telling of all an LCD screen.

since it has the stickers I know it isn’t an LCD fly, so I am 99% sure it is an LCD CnC. The dark angel is much as I expected except it has an annoed to match dye boomstick did they come like that? I expected an infinity barrel.

Does anyone know if Dark Angels have different serial numbers? There are fewer digits on the dark angel than the cnc I don’t know if that means an early model or something specific to dark angels. Also there is a port of some sort instead of a toggle switch anyone know what that means.

looks like I need two breech knobs, two feed necks, a bolt, a breech o-ring, and two new batteries. Apparently they were last used about 4 years ago.

can I rebuild the valve and such without tools I am seeing a few parts kits that include valves online.

I see that angel guy still has a website if I decide to just throw money at the problem instead is he still active or is it a ghost website?

The Angel LCD that was said to be an LED

The toggle switch should be here right? This look like an intellifeed port or something?

So that port is in fact a tab key to turn the power on and off, apparently a toothpick works, but why on earth didn't they just use a switch? The Dark angel has a decent looking battery, board says only 1800 shots on it, the board also says 1999 on it. The green one has lots of corrosion around the battery, so I didn't even try to see if the battery will accept a charge I will just replace it. The board does report 84F inside which makes me nervous about how long it will last though.
