    Nel-Spot 707 Value please.

Hi there! Just looking for some "expert" advice... LOL. Found myself in possession of a Nel-Spot 707, the first ever produced air paint pistol. It's used for sure (it was my dads, who was a forester and used it for marking trees). It has no model numbers etc other than 707. What am I looking at in terms of value etc.... There is slight rust in places and paint in the barrel, but overall is in pretty good shape I'd say. Any thoughts?

I want to say these typically show up for sale in the $700+ area, but it's one of those items where it's tough to gauge the current market because they don't come up very often

I would lean towards $700 as well, though that isn't the cleanest example, they really only come up once a year it seem like.

Weirdly, they still sorta make them
The 707 was adapted from Cap-Chur dart guns back in the 60s (made by Crosman). Marking cattle with paint is not much different then hitting cattle with darts.

Nelson had a falling out with crosman, and had Daisy make the 007. But the Cap-Chur guns are still made today. All I see are .50 versions, so not really useful. But... I heard .50 is making a comeback.... +cough+ Smart parts says so

Well I'll be damned. You're right.

If it's still made of brass it'd be somewhat trivial to knock off the top and put a .68cal barrel on it, though if the valve is smaller it might not have enough oomph.

Some of the syringes I'm seeing for these are 18ga. Unless they use a different standard, 18ga shotgun shell diameters are around .63in. You might be able to get away with reaming the bore and breach open, granted the bolt wouldn't seal.

So that explains why dart guns on Archer look like 707s. Fascinating

There's English, there's German, and none of it makes any sense.
