    Nel-Spot 707 Value please.

    Hi there! Just looking for some "expert" advice... LOL. Found myself in possession of a Nel-Spot 707, the first ever produced air paint pistol. It's used for sure (it was my dads, who was a forester and used it for marking trees). It has no model numbers etc other than 707. What am I looking at in terms of value etc.... There is slight rust in places and paint in the barrel, but overall is in pretty good shape I'd say. Any thoughts?

    I want to say these typically show up for sale in the $700+ area, but it's one of those items where it's tough to gauge the current market because they don't come up very often

        I would lean towards $700 as well, though that isn't the cleanest example, they really only come up once a year it seem like.

          Weirdly, they still sorta make them
          The 707 was adapted from Cap-Chur dart guns back in the 60s (made by Crosman). Marking cattle with paint is not much different then hitting cattle with darts.

          Nelson had a falling out with crosman, and had Daisy make the 007. But the Cap-Chur guns are still made today. All I see are .50 versions, so not really useful. But... I heard .50 is making a comeback.... +cough+ Smart parts says so

              If it's still made of brass it'd be somewhat trivial to knock off the top and put a .68cal barrel on it, though if the valve is smaller it might not have enough oomph.

                Some of the syringes I'm seeing for these are 18ga. Unless they use a different standard, 18ga shotgun shell diameters are around .63in. You might be able to get away with reaming the bore and breach open, granted the bolt wouldn't seal.
