Best technique for removing jewel stickers for anodizing?

I want to remove these, and put them back on after anodizing, so I have two questions really:

    1. What is the best way to remove them without damaging them?

    2. what sort of adhesive do I have to use to reattach them?

buying new ones doesn’t seem likely as this is for a Shocker Sport and a Dark Angel/Infinity barrel

I've always just peeled them off but really it depends on the makeup of the jewel. Thicker ones are more robust.

Maybe try to get some alcohol under it and let it sit first

3m makes adhesive in sheets for replacing emblems and such. I'll get the part number at work tomorrow.

For my sp barrels, and my rsx. I hit up a SP rep, and got new rsx emblems, along with new all american tip jewels. Then I just used an xacto knife to get under and peel the old omes up. Ones that didnt lose their bqcking, I tried to re use. Otherwise I had back up jewels ready to go.

The rsx jewels were hard. They were those aluminum plate laser stickers, like the tippmann a5 nameplate. Not to mention it is so far inset. I ended up marring these to death getting them out. But had the replacements in hand.

Your pics didnt work, but if the jewels in question are SP related, try a sp rep, they may have what ya need to simply put new ones on.

I’ve used a heat gun to remove old ones. It loosens the adhesive up.

Came here to say this. Gentle heat, and a slow peal will get them off in one piece.

Yup, instead of a heat gun (which can get too hot) I keep around an old hair dryer for things like this and just run on low.

Interesting, I hadn't really considered heat, I wonder if a blow dryer would work? I don't actually have a heat gun, though I could buy one, might make shrink wrap easier.

When you heat it up, what do you use to peel it off, someone above suggested an xacto knife, I have those, along with O-ring picks, and a few other things but I am kinda scared of damaging them, the jewel on the Shocker Sport is massive too so getting it to come out in one go does seem to be hard. The Dark Angel has fairly small jewels and I can buy NOS Warped Sportz stickers at high but, acceptable prices.

3M adhesive sheets sounds right up my alley, I have to imagine something like this was used to begin with.

Has anyone tore the backing and replaced it with something? Seems like as long as it is white or silver it should look okay right?

Hair dryer will work and usually on low.

3m 08069. Not sure how small of quantities it's available in.

I've done this to a limited extent on other goods. The removal is just like everyone says (heat, a pointy bit and a little patience). I would advise to have a good storage solution in place before you remove them. A sacrificial sticker could be good- use the backing that you normally toss after peeling off a sticker. Put your jewel onto it as fast as possible- you don't want hair, dust, etc contaminating the surface. If the jewel and adhesive was in good enough condition, and your surface is clean and smooth enough, you can often reuse the jewel as is.
