Fill Nipple Sealant

Going to relax the oring in an old reg's fill nipple. I know there are a lot of teflon tape users that have success.

I normally use Loctite 545 for my air fittings. Will this seal ok with a steel nipple to steel body? Or is there another sealant that is better?

545 will work just fine on its own, just be sure to not use too much and get it inside the fill nipple or reg because it will screw up both.

I much prefer Teflon sealing tape as well. Disassembly , clean up for reassembly are far easier
