Against my better judgement, I recently acquired an extremely minty 1996 RF Autococker (minus the grip frame) that is pretty close to bone stock. Serial # 30949. Full square back block, shroud, springs and top hats on pneumatics, and even a vintage "Exotic Sports" sticker for all the agg . I've gathered the necessary components to convert it to nelson Springs (it had the old Sheridan style springs), as wells as an SLPS spring kit and and Autococker parts spring kit.
Apparently, 97 was the year that the valve chamber started getting opened up on these, and the old Sheridan style valve spring that was in there confirms this, it's about a 1/4" shorter then the springs that came in the kits, so I'm going to have to chop one down.
I am planning on running a HPR on this, and was curious as to what I can realistically expect to set the HPR to and still have this obtain playable velocities? My current understanding is that these were designed for high pressure operation (800+ psi), and with the stock valve and no LPC, I'm slightly skeptical that anything less then that will get me to 280 fps, even with a chopped down and much weaker valve spring.
Has anyone here run a mostly stock pre 97 with a secondary HPR? If so, what pressure did it end up running at?
The Bob Long Torpedo Reg I have laying around for this project only goes up to 600 PSI, I'm hoping that's high enough.....
Thanks guys!
