Buy HPA tanks without a reg?

I’m coming back to the sport, and I’ve been seeing a lot of tank regs for sale without tanks.

Are there places you can buy a tank by itself? And if not, who is buying these tankless tank regs and what are they doing with them?

It's mostly because they've been taken off of other tanks that have either expired or someone upgraded their reg. I believe there are a few places you can just get a tank, but not very common anymore. I just purchased a used regless tank myself. No idea what they guy did with it, but happy to get the tank for cheap!

As far as I know most places will not sell you tank without a reg. I wish they did because I have like 5 perfectly good tank regs without tanks. I have heard it is a liability issue. If ANSGear sells me a tank and I put the reg on wrong and it blows up on me when I do one of my extremely famous 10 foot superman dives then I could probably sue them.

I have heard people suggest contacting Ninja or another manufacturer and see if they would install your reg on one of their tanks. However, if you are shipping it, I doubt it would be cost effective.

You can get bottles only, Infamous is one brand. I know paintball wizard carries them.

Can sometimes be handy to have a reg in your toolbox for spare parts.

I know one of my local paintball stores sells just bottles. They're all used with fresh hydros, but it's a crapshoot what type and if they have some. Might be worth calling around if you have any shops around.

Immortal Air offers bottle only, so does Infamous. I notice some shops offering bottle only on Ninja and HK tanks but not wide spread. Could possibly be something to email, or call your favorite shop and ask if you are in the market.?

i think the idea though is to sell us tanks with no name import regulators so we will upgrade to the high end regulator. Which is ultimately effective.
