    Dye Dam Magazine Springs

So I bought some used Dye Dam 20 round magazines with upgraded followers. However when I checked them, 4 springs out of 12 springs have less tension and are more silver looking. The other 8 springs are darker in color and have more tension. I’ve noticed the difference because I have been getting ball breaks with the magazines that are darker.

I am thinking of just cutting the darker springs to reduce the tension. Has anyone done this before? Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

You can use D-mag springs. Or use the PE spring and follower kit for regular paint. The stock springs are to stiff for regular paint it will push it past the detents and multiple feed at the end of the mag especially when new they work fine for First strikes. You can compress the springs and leave them locked down in storage for a bit to help take the tension off them. But your cheap option is to just drop D Mag springs in All your mags. They are usually cheap ($2 a mag)

Yep, the dark springs are stock DYE, the lighter ones are PE. You can always keep the mags you got with the stock springs for dedicated First Strike use and just buy another pack or 2 of mags plus the springs and followers from PE for roundball. I've never heard of significant problems being had with the stock springs and rec/mag fed paint, but the PE ones will feed absolutely anything fine.

New mags will push multiple balls past the detents at the very end if if they are new. Store them compressed for a while it will take the strength out of the springs. D msg springs are similar to what PE uses. PE has a different follower for the MG100 that holds the breach open at the end of the Mag.
