anyone ever come up with a good detent system for the SL -68 II?

got three of these and they are great guns - took care of the the barrels with various homebrew wedgit methods, but they are ferocious double feeders if you are not quick on the pump.
thinking some sort of palmer esc wire and ball might be in order. thought I;d ask here before re- inventing the wheel.

I only used my sl 68 for a short minute but I really didnt have an issue with double feeds. I always thought the cleaning port prevented double feeds for the most part. Are you using a force fed hopper? Or is the paint just that small now a days that its an issue?

I've always wrapped a rubber and around the squeegee hole.

I wonder if a small hair bindy would work well for this.

I'm sure it would but I don't have those kicking around

if you know what your doing you can get by, but with the smaller paint and a newb its a pretty big problem - the 68 specials have a great detent sysem but the pump rod on the SL prevents that from being used.

Mine has a .684 Lapco that has been rethreaded

I made a barrel from 686 brass and was going to put a palmers wedgit style detent in it, but I realized that I wasn't sure where to put it. I need to play with some fingernail polish first I guess. I might try just locating it by rod down the barrel.

The brass tubing is layered over with some sprinkler tube and turned down for proper thickness. Makes a good pump stroke.

5/8" from the end of the barrel works perfectly.

maybe I worded it a little badly - in addition to some sort of wedgit system in the barrel I'm talking about some sort of detent in the breach area to hold the ball from rolling forward into the barrel making room for another to roll in.

played yesterday and a first timer use the SL and only had a few double loads, but still if it would help...

The only thing I've ever heard of is an elastic or two wrapped across the feedneck.

I have been thinking about this same issue (I have 15 SL-68 2’s (don’t ask))..
I was thinking of a small 3D printed cover for the squeegee hole, that would properly place a cocker ball detent, a Palmers type ball/wire detent, a straight wire detent, a Armson lever type detent, or the Tippman detent (a little stiff for my liking, but can be trimmed), etc.
It would be nice to be able to remove it easily to still squeegee, but not critical if you have a Barrel Maid squeegee.

If anything it ought to hold a tippmann detent. They would do the job, and its proper to just use tippy parts in a tippy. Issue is you would have to likely tap the body to make it work, or still use an elastic band to hold it in place.

If I was half good at cad, and had an sl to mess with, Id try it.
