    X-valve on a Pump Mag?

    Hey,

I started building a pump mag. I was going to use an X-Valve in it (what not?). However, even with the wave springs it shoots in semi auto. Before I dive into this further, is it possible for the X-valve to be used as an automag pump?

Also, It had the long red spring on it so I swapped it out thinking that would be causing the issue, but even the shortest silver spring doesn't fix it.

    Thanks!

Follow-up question. Do I leave the bumper on the valve with the wave spring installed, or remove it (I tried both ways neither made a difference).

Keep the bumper. I believe you're supposed to cut it so it sits inside the wave spring. The RT valves use a softer clear bumper as opposed to the hard blue ones on regular mags, not sure if that could cause an issue. You also may need to cut the shortest spring. I think you want it about flush with the end of the bolt.

The soft bumper is too compensate for abusive high speed so the bolt wouldn't hammer the crap out of the valve. Blue bumper will work just fine for normal play.

I have no idea but that mag is sweet!

Yes you can run an xvalve or lv10 on a pump, it does require a bit more patience and fine tuning than a lv7 does, you do need a bumper I like cutting blue bumpers, you do need to have either an old worn out spring or cut a spring shorter to allow for the wave spring to keep the bolt from resetting

Xvalve looks great on there but most would say overkill or a waste of the xvalve. Put a classic valve for the pump and use xvalve in semi mech.

And like alpha said old worn out spring or cut one. Cutting one can be tricky. I always wonder if there some after soft spring out there that could work for pump mags without having to cut, just drop in.

This marker was possible thanks to you bro! Thanks again!

Those who think an X-valve is overkill, has not seen my noodle arms. Carrying around several extra ounces for a day could send me to the hospital!

Honestly, I have a couple non-working emag projects with X-valves, so why not use the x-valve over the classic valves I have? I guess the answer is that the standard valves work better as pumps. I'll probably switch it over.

Glad I could help. Is that one of the new 3D printed pump kits. How are you liking it?

Yes I got it off Facebook, from a guy named Clint who makes a decent amount of 3d printed stuff.

It is very well printed. It does have a bit of a hollow feel to it, but it is sturdy and secure. It is a very smooth pump stroke. It is super hard to argue with anything on it for the price. My memory is shot, but I think it was like $45 total.

My only gripe is that the stock vert feed screw isn't long enough for this and I can't find a replacement. It is a simple 1/4-20 thread but all the screws at the hardware store had head too tall or too wide. Clint said he just sands the heads down on them and it works.

I sent the body and rail to Luke's Customs. USPS lost the package for about a week, but once it was found, it was milled and shipped back same day!

I always wanted a pump mag, but couldn't justify the price.

I had to modify a screw from Home Depot. The kit is decent and sure as hell beats anything else for the cost.

For the past 25 years I have always used a uncut clear rt bumpers. I found even cut blue ones are to hard. Even compared to the black pumpmag bumper the blues are hard.

Now using a clear you will wear thru them quickly.

Also why not just put a complete lvl 7 setup on the xvavle. I plan to for my next pumping build.
