ICD lever changer not always piercing

My ICD lever changer has two issues that I'm sure are related. 1) sometime it just won't get enough pressure to piece the 12g 2) The actual lever tends to be askew, rather than running parallel with the 12g is goes off at a 10-15* angle. Anyone have any advice on how to solve this?

Make sure the screw holding the lever to the body is tight.

    it tends to loosen up.

That may have been the issue, I may end up throwing some loctite on if so

What brand 12gs are you using? People have noted inconsistencies with Crossman 12g lengths.

Crosman haha, although I'm not sure if that's related to the lever being askew.

Make sure the top of the changer and the stock body are tight when you tighten the two set screws on the body. If there is a slight gap the lever will not get the throw it need to push hard enough on the spring piercing pin. They can loosen up with time. I use a lil blue locktite on mine. I have gotten mine set so it don’t loosen up on me but if it gives me trouble I’m going to use larger grub screw (wider not longer) and add 2 more so that 4 hold the top tight. If you set them right they should stay tight unless they have been over torqued before.

fixing the lever alignment isn't hard. if remove the bottom end and take a good look at the lever linkage you'll see the hinge pins are cut a little short and this produces the wobble/non straight lever alignment.

i took toothpicks and shoved into both ends off offending hinge joint to center the pin. then trim/cut the toothpicks flush and problem solved. lever aligns straight every time now.

In the bottom cap I don’t think I have that issue on either of mine but I’m curious.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll be searching my parts box for a better pin, if not seeing what toothpicks accomplish for me. After that it's loctite if I have any.

Toothpicks did the job admirably. Just gotta snag some loctite and I'll be confident for the next outing. Just need more 12gs now..

Real MVP right here. I had a hell of a day yesterday trying to use this lever changer for a full day and it only occurred to me on the drive home it was the lever changer, not the gun. I was using Liss 12ies from Red Rock Minnesota.

Why the hell would ICD make this damn pin so short?
