First Strike Scout Condition Out of Box?

    Hey,

for Christmas my wife bought me a FS Scout off ANSGear. I got a chance to really look at it today. The marker end of the barrel is all scratched up, the box of accessories was ripped and bent, the magazines and most everything else were just loose in the box. I went to shoot it just now and the First Strikes were fine but the round paint double loaded at best and sometimes unloaded the whole 11rd magazine into the barrel. I am not sure if the detents look right, but there aren't any spares in the box.

Is this normal? I am thinking I got a display marker or something. The marker itself doesn't have scratches or anything, but I am not impressed. I am glad I tested it out now, and not waitied until I go to the field...

Can you tell me if those detents look like they should? If so, what is causing my multiple feeds?

If it is worth bringing this up to someone, should I try ANSGear or First Strike? In the past ANSGear sent me the wrong sized clothes and when I contacted them about it they insisted I pay return shipping and a restocking fee. So I am leaning First Strike....I know I would be pissed if I spent $800 and received this, luckily this was a BF purchase.

I know capitalpaintball had some issues with roundball in his too. Seems like First Strike reused a bunch of gun parts and forgot that manually actuated guns need some sort of rollout prevention or better detents.

Remember this is just a T15 that's converted to bolt action ...

That looks like a used marker probably returned and re sold. I wonder how much they make off restocking fees. It’s there go to line because they know shipping and 20% makes it not worth returning. It’s ANS speak for F-Off.

That aside these things as a lot of issues I’m sure could be worked threw but like the Hammer 7 they suck out of the box. Going to have to find work arounds. Maybe a printed Detent with more resistance may be a fix. Or try trimming or finding lighter mag springs. I know that worked well for early Dye Dam. I almost bought one myself to shoot FS but I knew it would be a headache getting it to work. I’m going to stick to hand loading them into my Phantom.

I'll have to draft up some detents to print then...wish me luck.

The detents only hold the ball as the mag inserts the round. When you close the bolt the ball is pushed into the barrel which is sized for first strikes. Click image for larger version

ID:	352729 i added a third detent for round ball. I even had the fs rds slide out before i added.
They do sell barrel adapters for cocker and a-5 threaded. Not sure how they will work.

From the second picture here it is very clear my detents are bad. in my third picture I tried to show that the detents barely enter the barrel. What a pain to deal with for a "Brand New" marker.

Also because its closed bolt, the bolt depresses the detents when stored. Best to remove the barrel when not in use.

As others mentioned the detents are probably "worn" because it sat for a long time with them compressed, which is a common T15 issue.
The Scout is also an FSR intended marker. Sad that you got a used or floor model, but they are pretty robust so as long as there isn't any real damage it should work just fine.
I don't know anyone that uses one with roundball, but you can get different barrel sizes, or a Freak barrel for it.

As far as an FSR shooter, it's ok, a little better than the semi-version. People either like it or don't but it shoots fine.

Majority of FSR issues are the FSR itself causing jams from the magazine.

These have been sitting in a wearhouse for quite a while. Everything has that oil has evaporated feeling.
