I've never experienced an MVP. People act as if its gods gift to pump paintball. What is so special about the bob long MVP? It's a nelson valve right? Is it low pressure?

I'm going to say I don't know. I don't remember it being a big seller and the one gun on our pump team that owned one really didn't think the best of it.
Over the years people's perceptions change and want the things most of us didn't care about. I've seen guns sell for big bucks (due to being rare) but not because they were performers. I don't have any personal experience with it beyond what I saw and was told. Didn't know people wanted them. Who knows, maybe the Thumper is next to be the big ticket item?I am the admin... -
They were quite quirky but fantastic feeling....
I had one for a bit and was using it as my default pump. Once you got past the awful sound signature it felt like the best of the CCM pumps combined with the best of phantoms.... I think I paid $600 for mine new and custom ordered color. At that price point I could look past the quirks....
- barky sound signature if you held the pump
- under boring could cause enough blow back to cock itself again.... No joke took the pump off mine deliberately under bored the paint and had it running fully auto.
- horrible lock point feel on pumping.....it was 1 inch stroke so it felt longer than expected - and the worst bit.... The seal between the frame and body was tiny, uncaptured and under 300 psi. The slightest bit of looseness on the frame would blow that oring out the gap. Oh and it was tiny and metric..... And not in the spares kit.... And the frame screws were tiny
I sold mine off to fund buying a west wood cocker....it was a rough choice but it had to happen. That being said I would never pay the current used prices for one

Take it from someone who used to be a BL tech, they are not anything super special, for whatever reason BL just has a cult following. I think it's all the SP fanboys after SP went under needed something else to latch onto. BL was in the right spot. Slightly under the radar, known but not super widely by players moving up in the sport, Bob used to be a player back in the day so he "understands". Most of their stuff can be seen as "high end" a few oddball features that were not in other markers (for good reason if you ask me)
Don't get me wrong, I have respect for Bob, but his markers are just not the gift from god people seem to think they should be. Working on them was never a fun experience

They aren’t. I wouldn’t touch one that wasn’t modified for original MSRP let alone at the massive hype induced mark up.
Modified however they shoot like a if you took a Phantom and gave it CCM internals. Points like a phantom smooth like a CCM. They require low pressure input for me that’s the biggest annoyance. some people it don’t bother but my MVP was the only marker I own that requires a dedicated tank/ reg. As someone who likes to match my paint load out to the air I’m using for the day. Swapping tank regs just grinds my gears.
The MVP is expensive because it’s popular to shoot one and they are rare because out of the box the sucked and years later people figured out how to make a good concept that was poorly executed work like they should have from day one. The fix came after production had stopped so it was already too late for the platform.
Same reason the J12’s bring crazy money. It’s hands down the worst shooting CCM I have ever shot. But they still bring crazy prices. It’s rare and popular to shoot. I made that mistake it was garbage out of the box ended up taking a massive hit on it when I sold it to. The fix came out (see PVN mod) Paul is the only one to get them shooting right. I got another later on and it shot nicely it was PVN modified. In the end I sold it due to the detected LP tank requirements that just chapped my cheeks. They do shoot nice when setup properly and modified don’t get me wrong. But I can get an exotic CCM build for the price of one and I would much rather have that.

I have a PVN MVP and I love it. Absolutely love it. I bought one of the last two Field One had for sale on their website before they stopped making them. The pump stroke isn’t as “smooth” as my CCMs, but since the rail is on roller bearings it’s a more tactile, smooth and satisfying pump stroke to me. The trigger has a nice, clean, hard break with 0 slop or take up, just the way I like my real steel shooters and much preferred to my CCMs. Undo the two grip frame screws and it comes apart for a quick field stripping. A timesaver I love as someone who cleans their gear after every day at the field, taking apart the T2 is just a straight up PITA.
Yes, a low/mid-pressure tank is required. 450-550PSI. As someone who only really uses CCMs and an EMEK as a backup, this has never been a problem for me. Would I pay current prices on a bone stock MVP? Probably not. The sound signature is farty and a sear upgrade was required on older ones to fix a cocking/autotrigger issue and who knows if you can still get that from F1? Would I pay market prices for another PVN MVP? Probably. I learned to play pump on a Phantom and that’s how I’d best describe the “feel” of its point and shoot and I can’t really get that from any other OC pump gun on the market currently other than you know, a Phantom. But as an OC platform, it ain’t for me.
Since we’re on the topic of the MVP, I called F1 last month for some parts and according to Yosh, the MVP2 isn’t dead. But who knows when it’s actually coming…Comment

I wish they would just re release the original MVP with the fixes and offer the hard to find proprietary replacement bearings with a new marker purchase. I would be all over an out the box PVN modified MVP. But buying one used you just don’t know what you are getting unless you can put your hands on it and shoot it. They could be so much better and with BL Ano options it would be an instant hit. I think the MVP2 looks funky. They been talking MVP2 for half a century at this point. I wouldn’t hold your breath lol. -

For me: best performing, most ergonomic OC pump made. PVN hammer a must. Yeah, running mag pressures into them isn't ideal, we are all seasoned and smart enough to understand why. Normal mid pressure tanks are fine. Setup with a 17/3k and mod Winnie, they are slick as can be.Comment

Going to say it become more special once it was out of production and harder to get. Didn’t seem to sell
many of them originally and once the upgrades came out they became better and more desirable but harder to find, so the price heads north.Comment

It's sort of the Hammer 7 of high end open class pumps.
Unpopular on release, inventory dumped at below retail, modders found it when it was cheap and fixed it's problems.
