As the title says. I've always been curious but haven't shot an Impulse.

How does a B2K shoot compared to an Impulse?

I think my Bushies shot a bit smoother than my Imps. Bushies have a lighter hammer, and I think that's why. It's not a drastic difference, though. The Impulse feels a little poppier, which gives it a nice character. Ergos are more or less the same.
The biggest thing you'll notice is the size. Impulses are much wider, and maybe 1/2" taller than a Bushmaster.
They're fun guns. You can find basic Vision Imps for $150, give or take. I'd say give it a try. You can always sell it and get your money back if you don't like it.

Really depends how you tune them. Bushies have a smaller hammer, smaller valve chamber, and lower flowing valves then imps, so you need to run them at higher operating pressures. Vapor valves and GBR rams have been unobtanium for about a decade now, so don't bother trying to find them. Stock works just fine anyway. I played around with an aftermarket hammer for a bit but could never get the gun shoot velocity with it. The tolerances on the older bushies also seem way better then the later ones. Not sure if there is anything backing that up or just my inherent preferences for gen 1 bushmasters though. The fit and finish on them seemed to go downhill a bit on most of the B2k4s I've worked on.
Imps have a freaking massive valve chamber, and as a result you can run them at stupid low pressures. Depending on the internals you can kinda do whatever the hell you feel like with them. Parts are still very cheap and easy to find, and there is God only knows how many different aftermarket options. Fit and finish isn't as good as the early bushmasters, but it's better then the later ones IMO. Mine shoots way smoother then my bushmaster, but the gun is way bulkier too. I was able to tune it to bounce off paintballs, but my consistency was shit so I had to turn the LPR up. Doesn't break any paint either way so I'm fine running it like that.
Despite everything going for it, including a Sci-fi board, I actually prefer my B2k to my Imp by a pretty large margin. The b2k just feels like quality and precision, the imp feels "sloppy" for lack of a better word. Both guns are equally consistent at the Chrono, fast as all hell, don't break ANY paint, and are just complete monsters in today's world of 10.5 bps. Quick ramp on the bolt completely eliminates any paint breaking issues. I probably have about 8 cases through both guns so far in 2023 (HK Army 0.680).
I guess in summary, there is a much narrower range of how to tune a bushmaster then there is an impulse, and while normally that's a bad thing, in this case you just tune a bushmaster to work and it'll work extremely well. With imps... You can tune them into some pretty sub-optimal set ups and still have them work, just not well. Regardless, mine both shoot great, but I do strongly prefer the Bushmaster just because the feel of it.

Yep. I find BKOs & Bushys are best set up in accordance with the manual. I set up my BKO like it says in the manual and I leave it. Not always much for wiggle room, but it works every time.
