Looking for some sturdy gloves that aren't huge and bulky with good palm protection. Looking at the Mexhanix M-Pact. They do have palm padding but have read some reviews saying they wish there was more of it. Other options?

Ironclad gloves have good palm padding. They offer different ones with more or less, depending on the industry. The only downside is they mimic high end paintball glove pricing.

I've had a couple versions of Mpact gloves and they were good, but the best pair I ever had were Carpenter Mechanix Gloves. Tons of padding on the palm and armor on the backs and fingers, but still slim profile and not bulky at all.
I've not found another pair ever, might have been a fluke-y thing.

I do like Ridgecut brand gloves from Tractor supply. While I do not use them for paintball (I like lightweight gloves for paintball) I am using a pair of Ridgecut Pigskin Performance pretty heavily right now. The wife and I are clearing out a crap load of holly bushes/trees that the deer have been eating on and they have gotten super spiky and these gloves have been doing a great job of protecting my tender hands. I would expect them to work for your purposes quite well.

I have a set of I believe the are made by gxg, so not the greatest quality fingerless gloves that are padded on the palms with I guess you'd called it fake leather with a tad bit of padding on the top of the hand, but I only wear them in the winter cause the palm padding is pretty beefy, they are pretty light other wise
