    CCM S5 Pump Cocking Issue

My CCM S5 won't pump properly. The hammer keeps falling without pulling the trigger and sometimes it stays locked back and I have to bump it forward by holding down the trigger and tapping the cocking rod.

I've adjusted the hammer lug many many times with as small of micro-adjustments as I can and gradually tested it each time. Sometimes I think that I've solved the issue and the marker seems to be functioning without issue but then I take it out the next day to give it a try and it's almost like the hammer lug has drifted (even though it's tightened down well). Sometimes no issue arises but once I air up the marker then the issue with the hammer presents itself; if anything, the issue seems to be worse when the marker is aired up.

I've been tinkering with this issue for multiple months now with no avail. I've replaced the lower internals, the pump kit, and the cocking rod with brand new CCM parts to no avail. I've even tried removing the auto-trigger and then testing the marker and that didn't help either.

I put an old CCM hinge frame on the S5 to try and further diagnose the issue and that seems to have fixed the problem (though I can't guarantee that because I've thought the problem went away with the original frame as well only to have it pop up again a couple of days later when I pull it out of the gear bag or air it up).

The only thing that I can think of being the issue at this point is possibly the sear spring or possibly the entire trigger group. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can't figure this thing out

Could your rear frame screw be too long and is catching or rubbing the hammer? Remove your hammer and put the grip frame back on and check the screw isn’t interfering.

If a grip frame change appears to be doing the trick, then the likely culprit is a worn sear. Its also *possible* that the sear spring maybe the culprit. I had one once that I hadn't cleaned in a while cause the sear to stick in the fired position causing a similar problem

Dose it got one of those fancy color Plastic Triggers?
(The translucent triggers wear out easy that’s why they don’t make them anymore.)

Also Make sure the long grip screw goes in the front short to the back. If you flip the screws the long screw enters the lower internals messing with the springs. This can cause all kinds of issues.

Check your Sear In the frame for damage?

Has your hammer lug been modified?

To me it sounds like a timing issue. But parts can wear out after a lot of play time.

Make sure the frame is all the way forward On the mounting bolts. To time adjust the hammer Lug 1/4 turn at a time until the marker fires 1/8” before the back block touches the body.

The early CCM slide frames with AT arm are not very well timed. If you're running an original S5 frame with AT arm and cam it's likely that the cam is mis-adjusted or worn out causing it to pull the trigger before the pump is forward

Thank you all very much for your help. It's a summer of 2018 S5 build so it has the frame screws that are the same size on both ends of the frame. No modifications have been made to the marker/hammer and it's running the standard trigger.

It looks like the frame is drifting to the rear a bit which could potentially be causing the issues with the hammer, like Chuck mentioned. It's tough to say. I've run some air through it after bumping the frame forward and re-tightening the screws and it seems to be running well (so far). The real test will have to be this weekend.

Again, thank you all for the help and insights. I really appreciate it

If the Frame wasn’t seated all the way forward. That’s your issue for sure it won’t time properly if it’s not. Been there.

lil blue lock tight should keep it from happening again.
