A compressor motor should spin freely, correct? Bought a cheap compressor off Amazon. Doesn’t want to start running, keeps popping the breaker. Pulled the fan cover off and the motor is very difficult to spin. Seems time I got hosed with a shit motor.

The electric motor.
Hardliners seem fine but again this is just out of the box I shouldn’t be worrying about kinked lines. I read the crap ass instructions 3 times and watched multiple videos so I’m quite sure I set it up right. When it fires up the fan spins halfway and gets hung up. Does it 3 times and pops the breaker.

Disengage from the motor shaft and see if you can spin it .
If it spins and then trips the breaker it sounds like it is pulling too much amperage on startup.
Does it list its starting amps on the motor? Also what size breaker is it on?
Does it hum at all? Maybe a bad motor start capacitor.

Is the motor dual voltage rated f it is.. They usually come in the high voltage configuration, so in effect it pulls 2x amperage. This is more of a 3 phase thing, but I figure itd worth asking. I assume not as it sounds like a 120v single phase motor. Then Id suspect the start cap at a glance.
As far as should it spin freely, that also depends on what its connected to. If there is a motor contactor essentially making the motor leads isolated in a power down situation, it should spin free. If the lines are connected in q full circuit through some solid state device, then the motors magnetic field will fight your rotations.
My gut thought is this. Most compressors have a check valve that doesn't allow the piston itself to compress until the motor is at FLA. If your piston is attempting to compress the tank on start up, I get thats the issue.

What kind of compressor? Might be flooded with oil or something dumb like that if the carrier type it on its side.Feedback

It’s not the breaker I don’t remember the size but , this plug has run all kinds of motors bigger than this one. And it’s a very small compressor so the draw shouldn’t be the problem here.
im not taking it apart farther than I already have which was just to take of the fan cover.
When I spin the fan motor on the back it is not smooth at all and gets very hard to spin at one point on its way around. The motor is starting but it’s being impeded and causing it to trip from to much draw. I don’t expect the fan to spin like a bike wheel
but I also expect to be able to spin woth one finger, not have to grab the fan and force it.

If this photo doesn't give you the warm fuzzies inside...
Sorry, given the advertising, I'm betting QC and documentation are a bit lacking.

Well I put a different 20 amp breaker out to the garage and it works now. Guess I needed a new breaker so thanks for helping me not send this back and also to fix my garage electric.

This thing is pretty cool. Fills a lot faster than I expected. Bought this and and a few 48/3ks so I can play more backyard ball with the kids and friends this summer. If it holds up it will be perfect . I will put up review thread so we can seen if this $230 jobber does the trick.

From personal experience: Change the oil filters out all the time. Buy hundreds. These little compressors blow by as if it was a competition. If you change out the little foam oil catcher all the time (like, every 3rd fill) You wont have too many problems with performance. Have no doubt though, they are cheap Chinese compressors, your mileage will vary as to how long they last before the compressor itself grenades.
My yueng hang was about 60 fills before it started leaking through every port on the compressor. over people have gotten thousands of fills.
