    Cocker pump return springs

What are you guys using for springs and where are you putting them ? In the pump handle or around the guide ? I can’t find a proper size spring or if I do it’s far to strong and makes it a chore to pump.

What pump kit are you using? I only use a spring inside the handle (CCM kits).

I've used really weak and worn out Spyder main springs cut down as needed

Oh there’s an idea I think I’ve got some of those somewhere! Thanks for the input.

Ccm, the spring that came with it is so light that each shot sends the bolt back and inch.

That’s how they are, if you hold the handle it solves this problem. There’s also a guy selling longer ones on eBay (Time2Paintball) I got one to try but haven’t installed it. I kind of like that my marker will drop 30fps if I don’t hold the handle. But wanted to try one anyway just haven’t got around to installing it. It’s was like $12 with shipping.

I'm using a bunch of the T2PB pump springs on my CCM pump kit equipped guns. I like the feel of it better than the stock CCM spring. On my S6 it's friggin magical.

One caveat - using them in an oDm mini pump handle makes them a little too stiff IMO because his handles have about a 0.5" shallower pump guide channel than stock CCM pump handles.

Never noticed an issue with CCM pump kits) return springs, but my hand is always on the pump handle (plus sweet spotting everything helps). Those T2PB springs seem interesting.

Now that I have an S6.5 on the way I also went for one of these T2PB springs to try, I'll return with my thoughts later on

Took them off my Sterling, Phantom, and never installed then on my Sniper builds.

On a cocker I prefer them. Not that I need them for shooting. But I like to make hard runs. In which case my marker is held one handed and to my side. No return spring invites the backblock to fall open. Plus the stroke is so effortless, I like the positive feedback of a spring.

I like a wicked hard return spring. I have a double spring in my main cocker pump. I play hard and use my gear hard so the stiffer return spring makes me less likely to double feed or fuck something up when I'm running around.

Im still old school. I have an rc car shock on the main rod of my old ccm kit. I like the look of the spring.

Yup, in the good old days springs were outside of the pump handle. Sometimes on the main rod, sometimes on the secondary rod.

I had a build with the springs on the outside. A lot of people commented on the look, but it felt way better.

No Stanger to the outside spring on the guide rod, feels better imo, I've just never heard of using an rc car shock spring

Good way to add a little accent color

Have you tried going to a hardware store? Might not have the proper length, but you can always cut them down. I made my own Pro Carbine trigger spring that way- took over half the weight out of the pull, lol.

You can definitely find the T2PB spring at any good hardware store cheaper. I ordered one strictly for convenience. Lee spring can definitely Make them to whatever length and strength you want but would probably cost more the T2PB.

Yup. If I need anything for my paintguns I go to the hardware store first. I previously went there for odds & ends, but I actually work there now. Now I know all of what they/we carry and I'm always looking for stuff to add to or tweak in my paintguns. It's kind of a trap, lol.

I can't walk into any hardware store and not look for things to use in paintball, I'm building an expensive cocker but I'm a cheap ass at heart, hell I've even looked up oring sizes and just went to the hardware store for them, copper and pvc work great for barrel extensions and SC feeds

Does a paintball gun bolt even have an inch of travel?

What you’re describing is normal operation. There is no fix for you not having both hands on both handles. Perfecting your technique costs nothing so I always recommend practice before buying parts in any hobby.
