Indian Creek Designs 45 frame - History? Rarity?

ICD made many a marker with the M16 grip. I don't think I've ever seen one that came factory with a 45 frame instead - but clearly they made one... guessing it was an optional accessory they offered.

Those are just my guesses. Does anyone actually know anything about these things? It's my favorite frame for a phantom by a large margin and I'd like to know more about it, and hopefully acquire another one.

I think I have a marker with one like that, I was going to swap it out but left it on since it had their name machined into it

The Line SI Bushmaster had an integrated .45 frame (which I did not like). ICD was still making these grip blocks recently too (I don't know if they're identical to the older ones).

Yep, ICD is still offering a "AR15-1911 Grip Adapter (Aluminum)", sans the company name milled in it.

Yes! Was it right before my first stock class game? That's my vague recollection. Great times. (EDIT: Confirmed by photographic evidence! You must have given me the panels as well)

I appreciate the info about the current (actual, real life, firearm) 45 frame on their site. Wasn't aware of it. Anyone know about the original version?

I have one somewhere with the ICD milled in the back. There were some cats that had 45 blocks as well as some of the desert foxes though the cat I have doesn't have the milling in the back.

I want one of the 45 AR blocks drilled and tapped for a bottomline. Would love to try a CCI stock on an AR.

It was sold as an upgrade. Came on any gun with a bottom line. lots of Alley cats and Thundercats came with them. I use to sell them in my store, they were one of the best aftermarket 45 frames out there.

Or you could just use a Phantom block.

The mounting style is called "Lonestar".
                  They are compatible.

I’ve run into issues with the width not allowing room for the selector switch spring hole with the pb related blocks that I have tried.

Lots of them out there. They were sold separately and on certain models of ICD markers. I have some and like them.

My long gone SI Bushmaster Deluxe came stock with the 45 frame back in the day (circa 1990). IIRC the Bushmaster Deluxe came stock with the 45 block. They were fairly common in my area and were a direct replacement for the "Lone Star" AR style grips. It was quite common to swap those frames around. I never like the Ram line AR style grip that CCI used so both of my early Phantoms had those changed out. One with a Lone Star and the other with a 45 frame (TASO IIRC).

I have one that has the writing on it, not good from an Alleycat that I had. I was tempted to sell it at one point but it's the only frame that works with the Volquartersen grip I have,so hung on to it even after I got rid of markers that have had it on. It's currently attached to my Kingman Hammer Boxslide

Nice! What makes this frame work with the Volquartersen grip where the others do not?
