What do I need to put Phantom internals into a Nelspot?

It's been a few years since I did it and Mike actually put together the order for me at CCI, so I don't remember what I need.

I know the sear needs to be swapped (got that covered). What else is needed?

Any idea on what else? Hammer/bolt/powertube/cupseal?

Full set of internals.... Bolt, hammer and power tube assembly because the phantom tpc makes the power tube shorter then normal nelson

Yeah you will need a full set of internals and the sear. Then I believe it just drops right in. The only thing you need to modify is the sear to work with the 007 grip frame and trigger.

Bacci did a good video. Full internals, pop out thecsear and use the 007 sear. You need to trim some material off the top of the sear toget it to work.

I did ponder using the CCI trigger to avoid needing to modify the sear but that's going to be way more work than modifying the sear.

didn't someone just post about making drop in sears for this very thing?

I figured that’s why you were asking. I’m excited to see all the 007 builds. I want to get mine all cerokoted up fancy but I kind of like the tricked out rental gun look. It shoots really
good for a pistol setup. I need to find a better option then the Binding post ball stop for the feed. I’m thinking if I use a cut down power feed plug and just use the parabolic ramp off that machine it down and wedge it in the top feed. Because the only thing holding it back against a micro phantom setup is the feed speed. They are a lot of fun to play bolt action to.

Old cracked 10rnd tube bottom first from the front works well.

I can’t remember which size I used, but I cut down a wooden dowel to the length I needed for my front tube. The front end slips into the back cavity of the plastic tube plug perfectly, then I put an oring (can’t remember which size here either) on the end closest to the ball drop to keep it centered in the tube. It has worked perfectly for years now

Funny thing you should mention that. I've been mulling over designing an insert for the feed tube with a parabolic ramp for the 007. The only thing I can see being a potential issue is if it's somewhat crooked in the tube, it may block balls from feeding. I've got a few ideas running through my head on how to ensure proper alignment.

Now that’s idea. Mine has sights spot welded on the feed tub is that not stock?

The 007 does come stock with a front sight. That said, it's not a terrible idea. I was thinking more along the lines of using the existing screw hole as a reference point. Then again, if a simple dowel rod does the trick, I may be overthinking it (as usual).

Edit: Well, it looks like the screw hole isn't centered in the feed tube. It's actually 2mm high of center. I've played around with creating a parabolic insert using the screw as a mounting point, but it won't work without blocking the breech. If a plug were to be used, the screw would have to go.

Yeah, or knurling and a horizontal line, or a clip for a fiber post, or... really anything that lets you get a grip and know which way it's facing.

I wonder how tricky it would be to make a clip- on Apoc style one-way feed gate. Let people trim out a notch in the top tube, then snap it on top.

I asked Dan Bacci about it in 2013 (!?!!) and he made this video which I think is the one Nish refers to

But, it doesn't answer your question about parts.

If you're changing to all-modern internals to get the anti-kink features and the TPC, you need to swap out the bolt assembly, hammer assembly (with swapped sear), and short phantom power tube (the modern standard). I am not sure if you need to change springs, but I would go ahead and do it because it can't hurt and the old ones are probably crusty anyway

There are other combinations of older parts that should work (e.g., old pre-TPC bolt with long Nel-Spot power tube), but I assume you're going for all-modern parts to get all the benefits of Mike Casaday's innovative brilliance

                    Definitely.

I updated an old Nelson-based pump several years ago with Phantom parts - at the time Mike was still running the show and he told me exactly what I would need - and it shot great, I just didn't care for it that much and moved it along to the next owner (Third of Five should still have it AFAIK).

For sears I always use the ranger sears because they are plentiful and are longer than normal so they work for most replacements. I trace over what i need to cut onto it and then cut with a dremal or grinding wheel. I cut a new sear for a box gun I was building last weekend. Stop a little ways before you planned on and then go little by little at that point. flyweightnate 's sears also look good!

One other question, do I use the Nelspot powertube "nut", the threaded collar holding the powertube into the valve body, or do I need a CCI collar?
