    Getting back to tossing paint

Hello everyone. I haven’t played for years and am getting back into the game. Good or bad, I sunk some cash into upgrading my old level 7 classic automag. It is the only marker I have left of the five or so I once had. So far I’ve got:

    AGD X-frame
    AGD RT Sear
AGD ULE mainbody (now I can use cocker threaded barrels)
plus the pins and such to put it all together.
    Lukecustoms rail
maybe a pneumag setup as well (not sure of the legality here).

I’ve completely rebuilt the valve and Palmer pursuit LPR.

Still need a new tank and replace some of my old gear:
    hopper (which is best nowadays?)
    pants
    harness
    etc.

For barrels I am looking at freak. They seem to
have a good system to adapt to todays smaller and inconsistent paint.

Most of my old gear works for now so I don’t have to front a bunch more cash.

I’m curious where the game is nowadays. I played a lot of speed ball back in the day. Some scenarios too. What’s popular? Who makes the most reliable markers and equipment for competitive play? Any other advice on equipment (especially what I mentioned above). and such?

    Cheers!

For reliable market Planet Eclipse seems to take the Crown. The offer a full line up from affordable mech, magfed and up to high end electro.

Hoppers have improved, especially when it comes to battery life. Dye Rotors, Virtue Spires are quick and easy to take apart and have way better battery life. Leave the old Halos to collect dust.

Standard Freak kits off great bang for the buck. They now have Freak XL kits which have longer inserts. Are they better? Can’t say. But you can get a full standard Freak kit, even stainless, for cheap! Planet Eclipse also makes a fancy barrel system, as does HK. Never used either.

Cuda Pretty much sums it up. There is a Mech revival so what was old is new with the ability to feed them as hopper tec has advanced a bit. My personal favorite is the LTR rotor but the Spire r we works good as well. I definitely prefer Planet Eclipse however there are lots of great options. Most of the new markers use similar engines in different body’s by different manufacturers. The PDW system is the new barrel insert standard. Planet Dye Inception are all going to them now. The old stuff still works just as good. Lots of people here to help get your old stuff going again if you just want to get your feet wet. But a new PE setup would be bullet proof but it won’t have that nostalgic feel an old mag will. So it’s up to you pretty much everything with exception to the real cheap stuff will be good. But I truly believe Planet Eclipse makes everything the best with very few exceptions.

I'd recommend upgrading to a level 10 bolt setup, even if sticking with a classic valve. The ability to shoot multiple games wide open as fast as you can/need without breaking a ball is huge.

The Mech revival sounds cool. I am working with rawbutter on a pneumag setup as well. I am unsure if it will be compatible with field rules. We shall see. I was looking at the level 10. It's a worthwhile upgrade. I decided to put that cash towards an x-valve instead. I looked at the Planet Eclipse gear and it's very nice. Thank for pointing me in that direction.

Thank you all for the help.
