Phantom Pump Questions

Finally own a Phantom again and thinking about putting an undercocking kit on it. I come from snipers, so I am hoping the undercocking kit will make the phantom more comfortable to shoot.

Any impressions or advice on these kits? Only seems to be a couple options and I want a round ended pump handle, not a beveled ended one. So I believe I believe I’m looking at a classic pump handle?

Classic pump handle looks a little small to me, but haven't used one. I have used the Vendetta style several times and always liked how those felt.

I think my preferred setup is a VSC, 10 round feed, with the Vendetta style UC kit and a 12" Deadlywind barrel. No stock.

Only quality of life bits would be a proper cup seal, proper stock silver springs, and the TPC with o-ring since there's no messing with a nylon set screw.

Had an ID pump kit and the pump handle is similar to the Vandetta handle and I hated it.

I’ve had pretty much every handle you could imagine on various phantoms. I was a big fan of the retro dual rod you have there (I also really liked the old WEVO style kits too)

I definitely prefer the other style UC handle (t’s just preference)
But that kit is one of the best UC kits you can get for the Phantom.

I honestly wouldn’t change out the red parts it looks great as is. Or….ooor… you could just get the pump plate from Extreme and get a CCM style handle from ODM. You can get the aluminum part of the handle matched to your Ano and the handle in clear red. I have one like this, it’s a CCI mounting plate on an ODM handle.

Definitely want to keep it as anno matched as possible and I’ve scoped out ODM’s work a bunch. Eventually would like to grab an ODM handle and likely some customs grip (if ordering one thing, might as well order a few….) but my budget is tight at the moment.

The undercocking kits make a world of difference. I didn't really like shooting Phantoms until I got one.

I have tried the retro and it was comfy, but I prefer the vendetta or a custom handle from oDm

If you want to improve the pump feel without breaking the bank I can send you a pump arm brass shim (those where sold by a member here and I have some extra). It reduce the gap between the frame and the pump arm and also add brass to make it cooler.
That way you can have a better feel before you get the fund to buy a ODM handle and the dual rod under cocking kit.

I think I just prefer undercocking in general as I am more used to it.

Did you try the classic handle on there? I like them just as much especially if you plan on using the matching stock barrel. There are very few barrels that are better than the stock phantom barrel anyway. The only benefit of the UC kits are a better sight picture down the outside edge of the marker with short barrels and the ability to put larger OD barrels on the phantom like Cocker threaded ones. With the over barrel handle your pump hand is very close to the barrel line. It’s actually a really nice feel after some trigger time. I run both and don’t really have a preference. I would give it a few outings see what you think before changing it up. The translucent red parts look killer on it if you ever decide to let those go keep me in mind.

This is likely the best advice. Actually play with it first and then see how I like it, then change it if I don’t like it.

That’s really is the best part about the Phantom. How modular it is. That’s a great looking VSC. If it hasn’t had the ASP detent mod done definitely look into that. It makes the phantom so simple to use and eliminates rollouts and double feeds, and eliminates the need for freak inserts or the barrel sizer rings. A lot of those issues can be eliminated by teneque (pump faster) don't baby it. But the ASP mod makes the Phantom so easy to use. Breach will hold a ball regardless of what barrel you put in front of it. You can send your stock body out to get done so you keep your fancy Ano body to. It’s worth every penny.

The feel of a VSC and over the barrel pump handle is really satisfying, but I just can't seem to hit anything at all

The retro UC is what you're asking for; it's large and round. It's nice, but to me, made the gun front- heavy and wasn't worth the cost. The old little single- rod would twist/ but otherwise was OK. I went back to the stock handle recently since I have a nickel barrel and think it'll be fine. It is a bit more rough, though, using the stock return spring on the arm instead of the springs inside the UC handle.

I take the return spring off with the over barrel handle. It’s actually smoother than the UC Kit when you do. Especially if you really polish up the cocking rod arm and clean the trigger frame slot it rides in real good and lighty oil it. There is plenty of friction on the Phantom you really don’t need the return spring if you are the type that holds the handle forward. Even if you arnt that bolt tip oring if fitted properly should alleviate any pressure escaping around the bolt even if you don’t hold it forward.
