Angels? In this economy??

Alright guys I need some of y'all who know better than I to talk me off this nostalgia train I'm on or give me the confidence to go full steam ahead. I've recently come across an 05 speed that I cannot verify the working order of. It's reasonably priced, my question is: are there any angel techs/gurus/parts hoarders out there that if this thing needs more than o-rings that could get it up and running/modernized? Is anyone making remanufacrured parts for these? I know Sci-fi did boards for old shockers/cockers for modern firing modes and I'm really looking for something in a similar vain. But parts are seemingly more available for shockers and obviously cockers won't ever die.

Really I don't want a wall hanger, I'd like to play with it like it's 08 again (so basically like everything else I own paintball wise) is this a folly? Or is there a niche community out there that could make this a reality? I am not on Facebook so I can't search for groups there and came here because I haven't been let down by you guys yet.

i picked up my dream marker a few years back. it was an A1 fly and i absolutely love it. gets looks/questions at the field, doesnt break paint, super smooth, and every bit as good as i thought it would be in my dreams.
i was coming from spyders though, so maybe that has something to do with it. i had 2 G6R's for a short time between the spyder and the Angel and didnt like the BL's at all.

i say go for it.

mine came with a modified ram (and thank god it did). all i had to do was re-ring it once.

look into getting a rebuildable ram if ya move forward with this. as for tech's, idk who is still around and who could work on it. parts might be the hardest thing to get at this point.

I shot an A1 years ago and I loved it, the itch is coming back and I'd be hard pressed not to get one. I know nothing about them other than they were all the rage when I was playing but my team opted for shockers so shockers it was. I can't find breech seals anywhere I've looked in the past few days I remember hearing that was something to look out for. Rebuildable ram, copy that. Any idea where I might find one? how interchangeable are parts? Though an A1 fly seems pretty sweet but that's not what I'm looking at. an 05 speed is what I've found a killer deal on, I think that was a few models before the A1 fly.

All my knowledge is what I can find via wikipedia and decade old forum posts so thank you for what you've given me so far

Yes, there's still a good amount of love for Angels and modifying them. For example this way cool LED (currently listed for $1100)

So long as the ram is rebuildable you should be good.

05 speeds are the most simple of the angel family and kinda hard to kill..... Plus bonus they use 9 volts

i love the look of the speeds. such a classic look.

one of the major faults of the Angles was not having a rebuildable ram. i cant for the life of me figure out why they chose to go that route.
you "should" be able to send in the stock ram to have it modified a make it rebuildable.

if ya want an angle, i say go for it. once you figure it all out, its really not that bad.

For boards I believe Florypb makes updated boards for most angels. Available on eBay only I think.
