Bob Long Cam Drive ASA fitting threads

What are the threads on the fitting? It doesn’t appear to be the standard 1/8 npt

Anyone have a good source for these? Blast Legacy has sent me two that don’t grab onto the hosing, and they are now asking me to return my entire ASA when I ask for a replacement fitting…

I suspect blast legacy is the real problem here because as far as I'm aware, those should be 1/8npt

Hmmmm I will take a pic of the fitting later and post it.

Any ideas what makes a macro push fitting not clamp onto the hose correctly?

I have my suspicions but curious what y’all think

I've seen the collet/clamp get bent out of shape and not grip macroline on the smaller side. But I've also tried bending these tabs slightly back in and they just broke.

Camozzi and Norgren make similar fitting styles. See what sizes they offer, then check if any match.

It might be 1/4-28 or M6 or something like that. Even G1/16. I do recall it being small, and straight.

Try to find 1/8 NPSM or G 1/8 (BSPP). That's a custom fitting, though, as the o-ring location doesn't match any standards from other industries. You'll probably have to get a stainless nipple with the right thread on it, then Loctite it in place. Might be a good reason to go with hardline?

Yeah I don't think that's an npt fitting because it's not tapered.

This fitting came with the cam drive? Does it thread in and out just fine?

Affirmative on both counts. I’m assuming this weird outer oring is hoping to seal the fitting, but an oring on the shoulder should work as well or better.

Here's my theory on this, because I used to work for Richard who was dirty works at the time and is now blast legacy

I would bet he looked around and saw that macro fittings were kind of expensive. Because he saw no reason that anyone would want a different fitting than the one he provided he went with whatever weird fitting this is in order to save some money.

It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even test it as it seems odd that it has that external o ring with no way to seal using it

So now you as the end user are basically stuck with it.

If you are going to pursue a refund here's a few suggestions

People who have gotten a refund generally have to bug him for about a month to get him to do anything. He will make excuses like he has to send the email over to the return department which is also him just putting it in a certain inbox that he can ignore for a while.

In some cases people have gone to Facebook and started posting on The Bob long pages with their situation this seems to get his attention and he will act more quickly on your refund
