What Size Oring Fits in a #6-48 Hole?

Strange question I know. I figured this site would have enough people who have a large enough collection both orings and screws to get me an answer.

Basically I'm looking to use an oring in place of a nylon tipped set screw. The oring will be going into a #6-48 hole to tension a screw that is perpendicular to the #6-48 hole. I'm thinking either a 001 or a 001.5 oring will be the appropriate size but would like to confirm.

maybe I goopled the wrong stuff but a 6-48 has a diameter of .135".

001 OD of .109"
002 OD of .142"

.135" = 3.429mm (too lazy to look up metric orings atm lol)

I'm guessing 001 will work while 002 will be a tad tight (but you could prob still make it work if you're forcing it under a screw and torquing it down)

I think a metric 1x1.25 would serve you best.

I don't know if this can help you in this instance but its a trick I've used in the past. Instead of using the full oring to do the job, just buy an oring with a larger cross section and use a small chunk of it as the spring. So cut a small cylindrical portion and put that in before the screw.

A 1xx series oring will have a CS of 0.103 and a 2xx is 0.139. Buy a larger size one of them, cut out a section and shove it in the hole.

An old trick I learned from Tippmann is to drop a piece of lead in the hole, then tighten the setscrew down. They used it on the 68 Special endcap setscrew.

A piece of solder would work too.

Thank you all for the responses. I did look up the respective sizes for the orings and screw in question. I just wasn't sure about tolerances and wanted to see if there's anyone who was able to test this out for me irl. I want the oring to be big enough that it stays in the threads but also have a small enough ID that the #6-48 screw presses against the outermost part of the cross section.
