    ANS X2 Regulator (Rebuild)

So my Gen X regulator blew the piston seal and was wondering if there’s any pistons in good order to replace mine. The urethane seal deteriorated and was looking either to rebuild it or replace it with a nos one. I’m sure I can make it work with an o ring, but it probably wouldn’t function as intended. What has everyone been doing to fix these old regs since ANS doesn’t sell parts for them anymore?

I'm pretty sure automag reg seats will work. I can't remember if the ANS used the tapered pin or flat pin like the automags. Might have to change the pin as well.

Automag reg seats will work for the reg seat replacement, not the piston replacement. I can punch a urethane seal that will work. I will shoot you a pm.

I buy Automags and Mag Parts also.

        Those are not from AGD.

Sure are because ans only includes one blue one in the kit. You have to buy another one under the agd tab on their website to put in the piston.

The blue reg seats are not sold by airgun designs. ANS may market them on their website for automags, but they are again not made by agd.

Automag piston orings should work also.

Ans still sells rebuild kits for it. You have to buy a spare blue automag seal though. Worked for me.

AGD seals are not blue and the ans kits still have the urethane fail as they are 20 years old now.

Nah they work fine. Orings we're not bad.

Thanks everyone. I’m going to get a urethane seal from Superman and rebuild the piston.

Just plug the piston vent with with a loctited setscrew. The overpressure vent is a carryover from the original automag design (where it is necessary).

There are two seats in this reg:
            1. AGD style which seals the pin
            2. the over pressurization seat in the piston.

He needs the seat in the piston. Looks like this.

The blue agd reg seat from ans works in the piston. I rebuilt mine with it.

did you thin it? at that thickness it would be more PSI than the brass relief on the side

            #9
Yes, it’s the seat in the piston that has disintegrated. I have a new one stamped out that is on the way. The other solution is to use a new piston from AGD. The AGD piston is a little different so it requires that you change the ANS pin (which is shorter) to an AGD pin (longer). Now the question is at what PSI does the piston open up at? They’re probably set at different pressures. The Automag piston probably is set at a much higher release pressure than the ANS regulator. At the end of the day you can always make it work by sealing the piston up, but I wanted to have it work as intended.
