    Foam for Proflex hard ear

Anyone know a good replacement for the rectangle foam on the back of the hard ears? Googling is just coming up with foam soft ear results

I've seen so many different types of foam used haha. So anything will work. I always just remove it though.

Duuude. Get some soft ears. They are more legit.

I run them under my hard ears because the hard ears always hurt my ears when I put on the mask.

I just installed them with the little screw under the hard ears so I have additional protection ( sound engineer) can’t mess around with my tools. Now when I put on the mask it’s soft on my ears and cozy when wearing.

you could still add the foam blocks to the hard ears part and it would be super super dope. I might try that actually with a piece of scrap high density foam.
Old school style soft foam ears for JT Proflex. Soft ears. Comes with black hardware.  These are the modern soft ears version JT currently makes. However, they only stock them occasionally and are usually sold out. I have some now so don't miss out!

I'm with chops. Take a direct hit in soft ears and tell me they still rock. My ear is still ringing from the one I took 5 years ago. Hard ears ftw!

Y’all got me messed up, I’m talking about running both. Soft ears under the hard ears at the same time for double protection. I guess I didn’t explain that well. I’ll post up some pics for you guys to check out.

I agree though, soft ears alone will smash your ear. I still remember that from 2001, lol.

I run all old school hard ears on all of my masks. If you use thick enough dense foam (like EVA foam), the hard ears stand off from the side of your head enough to not make your ears hurt. Scraps from EVA foam anti-fatigue/workout mat tiles work perfectly. They're between 3/8 and 1/2" thick.

I’ll take pictures tomorrow. I wanna say I’ve taken ear hits and didn’t notice. The high density ear foam pad is perfect for taking impacts.

Having to wear headphones for days at a time has left me with sensitive ears if anything is pressing or pushing against my ear lobes.

I just used some open cell foam I had and hot glued it. It was maybe from weather stripping.

I get a roll of this stuff at Autozone or Oreilly's, and cut it to length. Just clean off the area for it to stick to.

Probably hold up better to that’s a good idea. That foam always falls off on the field.

I've only had this stuff fall off a couple of times in the years I've used it, but yeah just cut another one and replace it lol.

Ok. Dudes. Using weather strip door gaskets is, um, er, yeah sure.

          Here’s the pictures I promised.

Definitely the way to go. I have done this and it’s super comfy. You can buy this style foam super cheap to lots of knock offs.

I modified some hard spectra ears to fit on my Proflex with some screws (from an airsoft key mod rail) cut up some old foam ears and hot glued those inside. Worked like a charm! Pics if you're interested.

EVA foam. It's a relatively high density closed cell foam. You can buy it from the craft store in sheets of various thicknesses and if you cannot find the appropriate thickness, just layer strips of it with glue until you get a comfortable thickness. I've had good luck with using some scraps of EVA foam from those interlocking square floor mats you place under home gym equipment. Cut to size and either hot glue it on there or use high strength double-sided outdoor mounting tape. Had some 3M clear outdoor mounting tape left over from mounting some metal house numbers and just used that.
