Choosing a bolt and internals for my Mozak body

Hey y'all, I'm building my first "from scratch" sniper and I have a 9/16 Mozak body that I'm planning to use.

Shocktech has a 4th of July sale with 10% off parts and I'm thinking of picking up a Shocktech Super Fly 2k bolt and Shocktech lower tube kit for my build.

I've read a ton of threads on MCB to help plan out the build and I've read that certain bodies work better with certain bolts / lower tube kits.

Does anyone have experience with the Shocktech Super Fly bolt / lower tube kits on a Mozak body?

    1. Would it be a safe bet picking these parts up?

    2. Preference on cone lug vs rounded lug? Is one better than the other for a pump build vs AC build? Still trying decide between hinge and slider frame. I know that might change the answer.

    Thanks!

I'd say bolt yes, also what I'm going to use in my Mozak body but Shocktech lowers aren't quite th smoothest feeling when it comes to snipers. They're good for cockers and setting reg at 300. I like the ST hammer, but using lighter spring with a Palmer's low turbulence valve and spring for a little bit of a lighter feel

I've seen you mention on another post that velocity should be adjusted via the HPR when using the ST lower tube kit.

        Any particular reason for this?

Are there any pros / cons to this approach?

Just curious as I've always been taught to adjust via the IVG once the HPR is at a reasonable operating pressure.

        Thanks!

The springs were used so that it could be easily set 2 turns in on the ivg and and provide enough tension to have room to get velocity to and above field speed by adjusting the reg. They spent alot of time getting the right spring setup for the valve originally to take alot of the guess work out. You can certainly adjust the velocity with the ivg, but it makes it so much easier to adjust with the reg.

Con side for a pump setup is your pump stroke may be a little bit heavier. You can back the ivg off some and sweetspot the reg if that is something you are concerned about though.

superman thanks so much for the info!

I think I'm going to end up ordering ST lowers, but I need to do a bit more research into running snipers on unregulated 12g.

Was going to keep it a bit of a surprise until it's complete, but my Mozak body is milled for a CCI 12rd feed and I'm planning to mainly play modified stock class with it running HPA. So this is actually a stock class / modified stock class sniper build I'm working on.

There's a lot of great threads on MCB on that topic. Need to see if it will require swapping out lowers or changing springs when I switch between HPA and co2. I'm guessing it's relevant when the valve is seeing 900-1100psi from an unregulated 12g.

I do want to buy a CCI 12g changer for it so I can whip it out at the stock class events, but it will be running on HPA 90% of the time.

I'd go with the autocockerparts.com gold kit for the lower tube internals.

Shocktech bolts are good for snipers since they don't have orings to add drag to the pump stroke. The lug is preference and shocktech ones can be gotten for $7 each I'd get both and pick after i have them in hand. The lug that comes with the gold kit is a slightly rounded straight one if I remember correctly.

What exactly are the differences in the ACP kits

what they are clones of gold -> ccm, low pressure -> shocktech ish, brass and stainless valve -> wgp clone, ics -> karnivorr clone

Also worth noting that the ACP low pressure kit uses a wgp hammer which is lighter. than the shocktech hammer. The lug is a square lug vs the round or cone shocktech lugs. The ivg is brass instead of the stainless shocktech one.

The lugs are a bit preference but the cone will give a bit more of a break feeling and I believe generally can be set a little shorter.

I have all shock tech utensils (should be “internals”) and bolt in my pump and it was always nice. I did swap the springs out though but it’s been almost 20 years so I really don’t remember what I used. but I ignored all standard advice and am running 6 turns in on the IVG with really light springs, runs at about 220 and it used to be able to shoot +/-0 fps on good days (on co2 with a horizontal stab and gas through foregirp). Does have that quack sound though but i named it “quackers” so I’m a bit nostalgic to it being set up that way. Did just pick up a set of original springs though I may try.

      ST integrals (again damn anutocorrect,
”internals”) are great and have been for decades.

on my modal(Mozak, stupid autocorrect) cocker build I am going to use ST pneumatics but going with a laz valve/jennie Kraig and trident bolt since I want the o rings just to help seal everything up.

edited to at least be readable… but left the original auto corrected words for your amusement.

Hahaha wow. That’s what I get for posting late and being distracted.

Apparently auto correct doesnt like the world internals.

SR_matt thanks! Do you still have "Quackers"? Best of luck with your Mozak build! Gotta share some pictures of it when it's done.

Yeah still have that pump. Haven’t ran it on field yet since I can back but rebuild the reg and valve last year. Waiting to get my 45/45 in cause the 17ci is a bit small when I haven’t played pump in a long time haha. Now just have to work on my cardio so I can actually move enough.

Just wanted to throw in that the Inception Trident bolt rocks. Being able to adjust the hammer without removing the bolt is huge.

I have a Shocktech lower tube kit set aside for my Mozak body when it comes in as well as an Evolution Charger bolt. No pneumatics for me this will be a pump build.
