Classic Intimidator - Help with programming and testing eyes.

    Hi all.

I've got a new-to-me classic Intimidator with the 1.4.3 board and it's giving me fits trying to tell whether there's a problem with the eyes or not. I've owned lots of guns with eyes before but this is the first one I've encountered where there appears to be no visual indication of whether the gun, when turned on "sees" something in the breech.

First off, when the gun is first powered up, for the first ten seconds or so it shoots very slowly, like 1 ball per second no matter how rapidly the trigger is pulled. After 10 seconds or so, though, it will shoot more rapidly, so I'm wondering if it's putting itself into a "dirty eye" mode.

Secondly, the gun appears to fire whether the chamber is empty or there's a ball in there, though again, at first there's a bit of a delay when shooting, but this goes away after a number of trigger pulls/seconds have passed.

Finally, I'm feeling as if when in programming mode the gun is ignoring my inputs to tell it to bring the eyes out of "bypass" mode. The manual isn't particularly clear about how to confirm a setting when you're in programming mode, though I think it's supposed to be just one press of the left membrane button. On this board, turning off the eyes appears to be done either by putting the gun in the "test" firing mode or setting the eye delay to "bypass", but it seems as though no matter how many times I try setting the bypass value to something other than "bypass", whenever I come back to the setting to see what it's as it still reads as if it's in "bypass". I thought maybe that it's ignoring my settings because the tournament lock is set with the dip switches in the back but that's not the case- engaging the tournament lock will just cause the gun to say "lock" when I try to enter programming mode.

I feel as if the gun won't let me change the dwell settings either- it feels as if it's always at 1ms and when I change it and come back the value is still set there.

Any help beyond showing me where the .pdf of the manual is would be appreciated.

Welcome to intimidators. The way Bob choose to program them is rather infuriating.

First off, have you tried shooting with paint yet? Looks like you haven't but if you are trying to test the eyes that's the easiest way to do it.

I have. Broke a lot of paint but that might be due to the dwell being set to 1.
Consensus on the Intimidator forums on Facebook is that the board has a hardware failure on the chip that stores user settings, causing it to ignore both membrane button inputs and the dip switch configuration. Solution is a new board.

Honestly that's a really specific failure to cause the board to ignore both physical input sources on the same failure. If it were in my hands I'd dig and experiment a little more before running out to find a new board. Clean the contacts on the membrane connection for sure. I don't remember if those have a tournament lock but if it does that could easily be the culprit as well

Both buttons on the membrane pad are working fine. If they weren't, there'd be no way to put it into programming mode in the first place.
Tournament lock is a dip switch under the battery in a bank of 10. Other than the tournament lock (which, when engaged, won't let you enter programming in the first place) the board seems to ignore all other dip switch settings and will default to the lowest selectable value for each setting (Semi-auto, eyes in bypass, dwell at 1ms, etc.)

Ok so it's just the dip switches then. That would make more sense
