After over 4 years of constant use, my Social paintball pants are dead. I really liked them but I'm also open to other companies. I liked that they weren't as heavy as JT pants and that they had breathable (and somehow sturdy) mesh on the back of the legs below the knee. I'm looking for something similar. What other companies or lines are not as wimpy as joggers, but not as bulky as JT pants?

I always went with deluth fire hose pants. But I can’t recommend them anymore. They changed the materials and they are thin and ripped on me after a a hand full of outings. The pair before lasted 3 seasons. This pair lasted a hand full of days. I need a cargo type pant for SC play. I got a pair of Carhart HD pants from Tractor Supply yesterday I’m going to give a go. I wish they offered a cargo pocket version in the heavy weight denim.

they really are some of the best options for knee pads. super comfy and thick. this pair was the first attempt. functionally 10/10, but looks and comfort wise they were a little "blocky". the pants want to conform to the shape of the padding and it makes it look like youve got big ol boxes for legs. normally, the straps keep the pads tight and shaped to your legs.
ive since done another pair where i scored the back of the pads in a grid pattern and removed slivers of material so they sit better on the leg.
dont have pics of that pair but they turned out very nice. my only gripe is that they dont breathe very well and theres not much stretch in the crotch or knees.
theres plenty of old renegade gear on the bookface groups. the jerseys are all a million dollars, but folks dont usually care about the shin pads. ive scored 4 pairs when i was making these pants, ~$20 each.

You can find them with the Renagade collectors. They can be pricy if they are in good condition. Used the Renagade pads cost about what new pads cost so not super crazy. They last a long time so it makes them worth the money. I bet they last even longer the way Jim modified his.

I just grabbed these from Tractor Supply ($50ish) they have double knee material and seem built to withstand abuse. The material is really thick. Definitely heavier than a Paintball specific pant and will definitely be hotter and absorb more sweat. But I don’t like the way the new stuff fits. Joggers blow and I don’t play speed ball much at all anymore so I like a loose fit. The thick denim helps protect your ankles and legs from dead fall and rocks. I don’t mind the trade off. I use heavy denim gear even when it's probably to hot to.
My favorite pair are Smokin Paintball pants. They are hemp based super slick silky lightweight material but super durable. They slide so nice and are so durable they don’t take damage. I wish I could find a pair in black in my size. I have a green pair but I got a thing about clashing camo colors. I prefer a dark brown or black pant so I can use all of my denim jersey options.
