I bought this on a whim. Not in hand yet. (Maybe tomorrow.) It looks like I will need an ASA and hose. Is there anything I will need to give special attention?

Out on a whim - Rainmaker Gen 2

Oh, lots... but if you just want to air it up and shoot it occasionally, probably a few orings should be fine.
-
I was hoping you would see this. :-) So, new O-rings. Some airgun oil/lube. Anything else need to be checked out? As I am very much NOT an airsmith, should this go to my local guy for a complete checkup?
And provided it actually works, was it in the right price range?
Wait... you said lots. Care to elaborate? I know next to nothing about these.

I don't want to be responsible for your hearing loss, but I'm really curious what this would do on a Rainmaker: https://paintballdna.com/product/pai...ak-compatible/

Early second gen - Cocker style shroud, 9v operation, semi only, microswitch mounted to board, single trigger.
Late second gen - Cocker style shroud, SF board, 9v, used the Raptor double trigger frame with full "cutlass" guard.
All generations are compatible so you can mix and match everything... but the boards are harness specific and require matching wiring.
Aaaaaannnndddd... I'm not 100% on the board specifics but it jives with my slightly foggy recollection and past experiences.

Interesting, I assumed they went the other way around. Something about using a cocker shroud instead of something tailor-made seems to imply an earlier model to me.
-
Magmoormaster - lots of people replaced the big plastic shroud with a Cocker shroud... probably why BE designed something similar for the later versions.
-
The 1999 shroud was "cocker-style" in that it was mostly aluminum and could be easily slid off the body without undoing screws, but it was still a custom-shaped part. Actual autococker (or more specifically, minicocker) shrouds could be made to fit but were by no means truly interchangable.

The big mods we did back in the day
1- jewel trigger mod. basically putting a piece of plastic behind the trigger to make it dangerous light.
2- swapping lpr for an adjustable sledge. Easy to lower enough to pinch
3- adding larger clippard exhausts
4- adding a real on/off.
5- send the internals to "Mad Marty" for his special mods.
6- aftermarket boards, to increase rate of fire. I had a ThunderboardLCD
7- convert to pump. Its actually pretty easy. Its basically an autococking sterling
Plus, after market regs, though I found the factory one to be good enough. They used to make "flat backs", and noid sleds. Fortunetly plenty of barrels.
They had "Jacko" barrels which were pretty good. My understanding was it had something to do with the Brass Eagle Angel deal falling apart, but there was a barrel deal that came out of it
