Anodizing Ions... can it be done?

I've got a mech Ion without a body shell that I kinda want to dress up a bit... the firing can and donut look like normal aluminum but the breech almost looks cast.

Can they be anno-ed like normal? Will it *$@# up the tolerances and make it a leaky mess? Should I just wing it and see what happens?

I seem to recall a pump Ion that had been done in acid wash - ToyBox maybe?

I don't know whether it would work, but IMO Ions are so prevalent that you can experiment with little concern about potential damage. If it does go poorly, finding replacement breaches and body cans would be easy.

Should also mention that whether or not a part is cast or milled doesn't make as much difference as the quality of the metal.

Still prefer to know before wrecking something that would require a bunch of work to replace.
