WTF how did it get scratched dude ! ?

Don't you just hate it when you buy a marker or you go out to play and you see a scratch you didn't see before. How did you fix or hide cosmetic scratches?

Another thing about scratches. I recently picked up a smart parts ion and i bought a dual tail o-ring bolt for a mech build and of course there's a scratch on the bolt. I eliminated all leaks beside the tiniest leak coming from the front of the bolt. I don't know if this is his way of identifying his work but its my problem now as he doesn't even answer my non related emails (seems to line up with rumored bad business practices). Could I sand or file the bolt to get this hairline lip/scratch fixed or will it cause a bigger leak?

    Fix scratches?

Ha! My player grade guns are hardly show ponies and some of the hard edges have anno wear

As for the bolt.... It's an ion bolt. Bu another it's not worth the effort

Yeah I try playing without rubbing my marker all over bunkers. But the bolt, it was a upgraded part that i didn't expect to have tooling marks and there none on the market to just replace willy nilly.

On a regular DYE DSR I chewed up the piece circled in red, I was taking it apart to clean, because it never needs to be cleaned, but I took it apart anyways. Chewed it with a wrench, so I called DYE and they have the piece for $100. So like an idiot, I ordered it, and now the new part sits in the drawer on my desk and the DSR sits in my player bag with a scratch inside it. I’ll probably swap out the scratched part when/if I sell so the buyer doesn’t make a parody thread about me and why I scratched that part lol hahah 😭 😂.

I say remember the day when you got the scratch and forget about the scratch itself. Paintball guns aren’t 1960’s Ferraris. What’s the most expensive paintball gun ever? $5 grand? Even $10 grand is nothing compared to a 1968 Mustang. As far as scratches go…

All that being said, if you want, get a never played wall hanger? Finding a flawless wall hanger will be half of the fun. Be super picky and argue with the seller about any and all marks or scuffs until you find the perfect specimen. I say go for it. But don’t confuse the flawless wall hanger and the wobbly weekend warrior marker.

I get battle scratches happen or cleaning/repairs can cause it. I recently used a sharpie on my ion project. For clarification, i knew the condition of the ion. But the bolt was from a custom performance shop and it supposed to eliminate the problem, not cause the problem.

A scratch wouldn’t cause a bolt leak. Also use a magic ano stick (sharpie) if it really bothers you 🤣

Well the bolt scratch is big enough where its better described as a lip, its definitely a machine made problem. If i run my finger nail with slight pressure it with carve my nail. The o-ring is not making a full seal on the lip or on the uneven surface.

I find it impossible to play paintball, and not damage your gear along the way. Wear and tear is simply unavoidable under most playing conditions. So I don't mind it anymore. .

Yet we all cry when we see a marker that was put in a blender...

I wrap all my markers in at least 3 inches of bubble wrap while playing to avoid scratching them.

At home they are in an air tight temperature and humidity controlled case

Not good enough. You gotta white glove it first and foremost. Wipe it down with hoarded toilet paper and tequila hand sanitizer from the pandemic. Kiss the PSA 10 graded pokemon pikachu card while you look to the sky as a offering. Silica silica silica packets, pile that like a sand castle . Then wrap it like you said, get it in the case. Wrap the case like a burrito with static safe blanket. Probably should have sprayed some anti static before the white gloves. Put the case in a vault and use some silica packets all over and tape seal the cracks, at the bank. Probably Fort Nox treasury would be the best choice.

They are tools and tools should be used for their purpose but should also be taken care of so they function. Cosmetic issues while painful to begin with fade quickly IMHO, while enjoying playing the game. I bought a highly desirable custom Banzi anodized Eclipse Cocker this summer and before the PayPal payment cleared to the seller I had the marker out on the field playing hard during a scenario getting it dirty, covered in paint, braced against bunkers, pushing through brush....etc. Even put it up wet and did not even wipe it down until the 2nd day.
