How to use a Red Dot?

    Hi
Sorry for the stupid question but how to centre a red dot with the Screws and how to Aim?
With an normal sight I have a back sigh and a front when both line up I know the Marker shoot in that direction.
The Red Dot Sight dont have a front sight so do I need one? Or how to do?
    Thanks

Paintballs don't fly straight enough to use any kind of sight. Also, that's quite the username

I use the Poweder Balls from Umarex the fly strait "enough" for a good Aim.

With a red dot just put the dot on what you want to hit if it's been properly zeroed. The glass on a quality red dot is designed so that the dot will be in the right place with minor differences in head position, but it is still better to keep a consistent head position for best accuracy.

The red dot sight will have to be zeroed. It should have vertical and horizontal adjustments to put the dot in the place the paintballs are hitting at a known distance and then you will have to compensate for other distances by adjusting the holdover.

They can be useful with first strike rounds as those are much more accurate than roundball. Paintballs do have a lot of drop because they move much slower than bullets so a lot of red dots won't have enough vertical adjustment to zero beyond a close distance, but then you can correct somewhat by holding the dot over the target.

For first strikes they are good for reference and with practice you can learn the right hold over for other distances. For round ball, like others have said, you are better off just sighting down the barrel and aiming by watching where the balls fly.

Calibrate your red dot with a target around 15 yard.
Red dot does not need two point of reference. But they will have some parallax issue.
Test one and you will see if it work well for you.
But keep in mind the cheaper one will break if they get hit.

Have you actually handled a gun with a red dot sight on it?
The design of these sights is such that the you just have to align your dot with the target (or above your target if you're compensating for drop) and the balls are going to go roughly in that direction. You don't have to line the dot up with anything besides the target.

I don't use them often, when I do I find them useful for quick target acquisition.
Many I find to be large enough to be paint magnets. Mostly those that use batteries.
I do like the occluded sights, which use ambient light and have a low profile. The Dye Izon is an example.
The trick to those is you can't see through them like a scope, so you have to keep both eyes open.
A small learning curve, with practice they can improve aim and the practice of keeping both eyes open even when using a sight is a big help.

                <edit to add>
I missed the whole sighting it in. It's best if you can clamp the marker so it's always aimed at the same point.
There should be two knobs or screws. One is elevation (up/down) the other windage (left/right).
Shoot once at a target and see how far off the red dot is off. Turn the knobs/screws until the dot is at least close that point.
That gives you a baseline, knowing that paintballs fly through the air more like water balloons than bullets.
