Stuck Doc's adapter.

Hey all got RT classic that has Doc's adapter that is stuck. Tried to use some WD40 see if that might lube up the shaft and it moving. No luck. Was thinking maybe boiling some water let it sit in there for couple minutes.

Any other ideas on how to break it loose. Never had cocker feel so tight and not let loose.

Heat is possible, but I would thread in a barrel that you don't care about and clamp it. See if you can twist the body around the adapter.
If not then give the body a tap with a wood block and hammer.

I had this happen before and it came apart easily this way.

Going to try this if the freeze dont work. Going to see what cocker barrel is going to be. Oh plus need to pick up a bench clamp. Was looking to pick one up anyways so now I got another reason for need.

I would go with a freezer and no water.

What might be happening is some galvanic corrosion between the two stainless steel surfaces and they're just wedged in there because of it

Wait, is the adaptor stuck in the body, or is the barrel stuck on the adaptor?

If I'm not mistaken, the adaptor isn't a twist lock. It's basically pinned in place by the pin that the twist lock barrels twist onto. You have to remove the rail to get the adaptor out of the body.

The adapter is stuck in the body. I put a cocker barrel to see if I could get out that way. No go.

Usually when I've seen or heard of one stuck, it's either dried paint around the outside, in which case hot water and soap works. Or, a slightly-too-long front grip frame screw has put a slight burr on the adapter, but in that case, it usually only "sticks" after being pulled slightly out.

The only one I couldn't explain, I had the owner send it in. Turns out the body was slightly out of round (from the factory or from damage I couldn't say) and the previous owner, we're pretty sure, probably tapped it in- like with a small hammer.

If you can't make any headway, send it in, I'll get 'er out.
