    Cleaning bore grime

I'm doing some restoration on older markers, and the most common condition I find is gummed up gross internals from decade old paint.
I was thinking a light solvent on a sacrificial barrel swab with a power drill.
Anyone got tips for cleaning up that old residue?

Alcohol. Might need a few passes but I've never needed anything stronger

For cleaning the marker or for the person cleaning the marker?

Yup, this is the way really nothing else needed with the exception if there are carbon steel parts then my go to is Evapo-rust which I buy by the gallon anyway.

I use an ultrasonic cleaner, hot water and dish soap.

I have always used 50/50 mix rubbing alcohol to water. For real old sticky barrel goo I bump it to 75/25 and let it soak. One barrel I had to use a barrel swab on a drill to get at it. Rubbing Alcohol is usually all you need.

I've still got a bottle of Armson bore cleaner. I use is sparingly, but I mix some up in the slop sink, and hit many barrels in one shot with an old squeegee.

A piece of dowel and a rag will work too if you don't want to use a swab on the drill. Add toothpaste if there's corrosion in the bore.

I usually just use soap, hot water and a nylon brush (tooth, bottle or shotgun) for most things.

Rags a dowel and old tooth brush, tape the tooth brush to the end of the dowel if need be, soap and water usually works
