ACI and War Machine turret???

Was there a relationship between ACI and War Machine? A while back I had picked up the ACI turret. It was missing the asa/pierce pin valve.

Recently picked up the war machine turret. From the outside with exception of few things they look pretty much the same. Got it to see if they have the same asa/pierce pin set up. Then hope I can find a crazy machinist ( DocsMachine ) to see if they can duplicate the missing piece.

The War turret airs up no issues. I took the asa/pierce pin off to try on the ACI. With the two orings on there it does not seem to fit. Just eyeballing it, both stocks seem to be the same in that area. But still wont fit smooth like in the War Machine.

I was able to get pictures of the asa/pierce pin from someone who has the ACI turret. Both ACI and War Machine from the outside look the same. The ACI one is a bit different inside has more parts vs War Machine.

Do these companies share ownership, employees and that is why they are similar but not exact.

War machine just knocked off the design. I was able to get one to work it took a ton of patients and a lot of loctite.

They blew them out in non working condition they come with a non serviceable note. I will tell you when you take it apart do it inside a large jar to contain the thing because it will throw BB and Springs and lil spring plates like a hand Grenade. Also the side plates need to be perfectly alined with just the right amount of torque. Tight enough to not fall out with use is to tight it will bind the entire system. The only way to keep it operating smoothly is to leave them a lil loose with a light hold loctite.

The ACI was apparently better. I didn’t bother sourcing one after I realized I could change a 12g quicker with a bucket. It’s a cool novelty piece but more work than they are worth. It might be worth making the parts to get them going because I want to say I got very good money for my Warmachine after I got it functional. Not sure it will bring that still they were really hyped up on BookFace at the time. This was before ICD came out with there lever changer that makes this thing antiquated.

Speaking of ICD have you tried the top piece from an ICD changer. You could probably make an adapter and use a longer spring to get the length you need. To make it work it’s got a better face seal and piercing pin assembly setup. It would definitely be an upgrade to the original design. If you could adapt it to the ACI.

you could make the adapter to the bore of the ACI thread it for the ID of the ICD Asa adapter on one end, and the OD of the piercing pin assembly. At the length you need bore it the same diameter as the ICD assemblys bore and use a longer spring. This would give you a true spring piercing pin and make them less finicky to 12g tolerance fluctuations.
