    JCS MKX (launcher)

Ive got a JCS MKX that appears to have an overpressure issue after its been gassed up with Co2. Where can I find a manual or assistance in getting this cleared up?

    #2
Seems like the model was the "Ailas Launcher" if that helps your search. Best I could find was this post on Reddit were a user claimed the manual was on a Nerf Facebook group, but the link is expired and didn't work for me in WayBackMachine. Might be worth chasing that user down?

Also a link to an oring kit:

Thank you bro. I spent about an hour looking for any information but never dropped in the word Alias. I figured it was completely extraneous. I have ordered enough rebuild kits to last me and a few others hopefully.

    F-69™ foam rocket by JCS

! CAUTION ! NEVER SHOOT DIRECTLY AT TARGETS

USING A LOW TRAJECTORY. The projectile

could bounce off the target and cause injury.

The projectile can have a muzzle velocity in

    excess of 120MPH.

    FOREWORD

We are pleased you chose our product! You will get many years

of enjoyment using JCS® brand paintball products.

Paintball is an exciting and growing sport. The Alias MKX™ was

created to give a player an exciting new experience on the field.

This product was designed to launch a foam rocket approximately

100 yards (300 feet) or more. The projectile should NEVER be

launched directly at a target. The MKX is designed to “lob” the

projectile at a target by launching the projectile at an angle. For

best performance, we recommend using the JCS® F-69™ foam

rocket with your launcher. We designed the F-69™ especially for

the MKX launcher. It can have a range of 150 yards (450 feet) or

more when used at the same pressure and trajectory as other

    foam rockets.

Remember: YOU make paintball a safe sport! Never transport the

Alias MKX™ loaded! The MKX should be transported in a bag or

carrying case out of sight. It is YOUR responsibility to comply with

    applicable laws.

Completely read and understand this manual before using the

Alias MKX™. You may contact us with any questions.

    OPERATION

    RECOMMENDED PROJECTILE

    · The foam rockets sold by Blackpoint Engineering, LLC, are the only projectiles recommended

for use in the Alias MKX™. The JCS® F-69™ series of foam rockets are the recommended

    projectile.

    DEVICE SAFETIES

    · The Alias MKX has many features designed to protect the user from malfunction. Altering,

defeating, or failing to maintain these safeties could be a violation of law and will void your

    product warranty.

    · Breech loaded projectile. Although you may not realize it, breech loading the projectile is a

safety design. Because the projectile is not in line with the firing mechanism, any accidental

firing is not likely to create an injury.

    · There is a traditional trigger safety mechanism that physically blocks the trigger from firing.

Make sure this is in the “PUSH SAFE” position and the trigger is locked.

    · Next, the regulator is preset for 120 to 160 psi output. The MKX performs well in this range.

The regulator is designed to vent over pressure and relief stored pressure in the MKX firing

    chamber.

    · The firing chamber has an over pressure device set to exhaust pressure over 220psi to

    280psi or more.

    USER SAFETY

    · Remember: YOU make paintball a safe sport! You should observe and inspect your MKX as

suggested as a MINIMUM. Call us before using this product if you have ANY questions. We

are available during the week, M-F, 8AM to 4PM, 574-642-3153, Indiana time zone.

Remember NOT to fire the MKX directly at your target. It is intended to “lob” a foam rocket at

    a target.

    · Wear hearing and eye protection. Although regular paintball gear is required, it may not

protect you from injury or death.

    · Take your time to understand the MKX. It is obviously NOT a traditional piece of paintball

gear. Never launch anything but the recommended projectile. Call Blackpoint Engineering

    directly with any questions.

    · Use standard practices when handling the MKX. The MKX IS NOT A TOY. Use it and handle

    it with respect.

    PREUSE CHECK

    · Examine the MKX for any loose bolts or components

    · Examine the barrel for anything other than the recommended projectile. NEVER fire anything

but the recommended projectile from this device. Doing so will void your warranty and may

    violate law.

    · Make sure the safety is in the “PUSH SAFE” position and locks the trigger to prevent

    accidental firing.

    · Examine the tank threads, gas holes, and sealing surfaces for contamination.

    AIR SUPPLY

    · The MKX will function with “High

Pressure Air” or “Co2” Systems. We

    recommend High Pressure Air

Systems with a regulated air output

that does not exceed 900psi. Co2

systems will work, but do not have a

regulated output. Direct sunlight to a

Co2 bottle can create Co2 pressures in

excess of 3000 psi. The MKX regulator

is factory preset for a predetermined

    output. WARNING: Never allow the

input pressure to exceed 900 psi!

    · With the safety on, securely attach an

air supply. You will hear gas fill the

    main chamber (approximately 1.5

    second)

    · A 12 gram Co2 adapter may also be used. You can get about 2 shots per 12 gram.

    LEAKS

Although we are confident you will have no problems, we do want you to have an idea how to

troubleshoot you MKX. We are available during the week to answer any questions you may

    have.

    · After connecting air supply, the main air chamber is pressurized. There should not be any

    leaking or hissing sounds.

    · If the leaking occurs near the tank mount, your bottle o-ring may need replaced.

    · If you hear or feel any leaking air, disconnect the supply, wait for the MKX to exhaust all gas,

and then re-connect the air supply. If leaking didn’t stop, quickly listen and feel for the leak

location. Either an over-pressure safety device is venting excess pressure or a seal needs

inspected. If you’re using Co2, make sure your gas bottle in not in sunlight.

    · If the regulator is venting gas, then it may be necessary to turn down the setting. See

    maintenance section for regulator adjustment.

    LOADING

    · Always load a projectile while the muzzle is pointed at the ground.

Alias MKX™ Scenario Launcher Manual 02-JULY-2007

    · The patented push button hinge design allows quick breech loading access. Simply push the

button to unlock the hinge. The barrel slides forward, then rotates up for loading.

    · Insert the recommended projectile into the barrel until the fins are flush with the breech-end

of the barrel. We find variations in the diameter of the foam projectiles. Tighter fitting

projectiles seem to fly farther than looser fitting ones. Because the recommended projectiles

are not manufactured by Blackpoint, we do not have control over the production tolerances

used to produce them. CAUTION: Because we do not make the projectile, results during

    firing will vary.

    · Engage the barrel by sliding it back UNTIL THE LOCKING HINGE LOCKS.

    FIRING

Although the basic MOD1 (model 1) Alias MKX™ does not come with sights, you will be surprised

how accurate you can be with a little practice. Optional sights are available. Place the MKX

on your shoulder for firing. Aim approximately 30 degrees up for a 100 yard target. Aim

higher, 60 degrees or more, for closer ranges. “LOB” the recommended projectile at your

target. NEVER SHOOT AT TARGETS CLOSER THAN 100 FEET.

    · Place the Alias MKX™ on your shoulder and steady it with both hands. Looking at your

target, estimate the inclination of the MKX based on the range to target. (This takes some

practice.) You will also want to consider: tank pressure, wind, projectile fit in the barrel (tight /

    loose), and projectile condition.

    · Release the safety and pull the trigger to fire the MKX.

    · Reset the trigger safety after each shot.

    · Disconnect the air supply and wait for the MKX to discharge completely BEFORE removing

    any protective gear.

    · Always set the trigger safety when not using the MKX.

    MAINTENANCE

WARNING: DISCONNECT AIR SUPPLY BEFORE MAINTENANCE!

Any inspection and maintenance should be done on a clean dry surface. Be vary careful when

disassembling so you do not lose any components. When reassembling your MKX, you should

use caution NOT to let contaminates enter any area. Wash your hands before you start. Any dirt

or contaminates should be blown, washed, or wiped away. Be careful about using cleaners that

    could harm aluminum.

    USER SAFETY

We recommend an air-smith at your local paintball store examine the MKX if you are

uncomfortable doing it yourself or if there is anything in this manual you do not

    understand.

Ship your MKX to Blackpoint Engineering. We will examine your unit free of charge and

replace any seals, parts, or components as required for free under your product warranty.

You must pay for shipping to and from Blackpoint Engineering. We recommend sending

your item “return receipt” via the US Post Office or UPS so you have proof we received

your item. Blackpoint will not accept responsibility for items “lost in shipping”.

    1. DISCONNECT AIR SUPPLY FIRST!

    2. Make a written record of each item you inspect. Reviewing notes often helps

    troubleshooting if a problem arises.

    3. Wear safety glasses at all times during servicing.

    GENERAL INSPECTION

We recommend general inspection after every 500 shots. However, you should

frequently clean and maintain your MKX after each use. Take notes about any potential

    problems.

    SAFTIES

    · Listen for leaking sounds. No leaky sounds is good.

    · Test trigger safety locked / unlocked.

    INTERNAL

    · The main piston seals will eventually need replaced. A simple set of tools is all you

need to assemble and disassemble the MKX. O-Ring replacement parts are available

    directly from us.

    · Look at the barrel for any wear or misalignment. It should lock securely in position

    before firing.

    REGULATOR

    · The regulator seals should be inspected after every 500 shots. It is NOT necessary to

completely disassemble the regulator. Blue medium ‘loc-tite’ is applied to threads

when we don’t want them to come loose.

    REGULATOR ADJUSTMENT

    · ALWAYS disconnect air supply before adjusting the regulator.

    · The knurled knob on the front of the regulator is factory set to about 120 to 140 psi.

This knob typically comes completely tight from the factory.

    · With excessive input pressure, you may hear the regulator exhausting gas. If this

    happens, you can turn down the regulator by turning the knurled knob counterclockwise;

this decrease pressure on the main spring.

    SEAL REPLACEMENT

    · The MKX is designed with many standard size components which simplifies

    maintenance for our customers.

    · BUNA N070 O-Rings are used throughout. The regulator has special white o-rings for

handling very low temperatures and high pressures.

    · We recommend purchasing any replacement o-rings from us so you can be assured

the correct type and size is used.

    · Should any white seals on the regulator need replaced, we recommend shipping your

regulator only (or the whole MKX) in for warranty repair. We will typically service your

product after the warranty period (for original purchaser) for little or no charge at our

    discretion.

    PAINTING ALUMINUM

    · Follow all product instructions. Be in a well ventilated area. DO NOT paint near any

    gas appliance, heater, stove, etc.

    · Use alcohol to prepare the surface to be painted.

    · For aluminum, use a zinc based primer before your colors.

    · Follow painting instructions on spray paint can.

    LUBRICATION

    · We use a “white lithium” grease on most surfaces. This can be purchased at most

hardware stores or tractor supply stores. We use the lithium grease during assembly.

    · All moving parts should be inspected and lubricated after each use as needed.

You can't. I've dealt with 2 of these at this point. The manuals that do exist are text only and don't include any o ring sizes. They are pretty pointless. I think I have somewhere the o ring sizes if you need them, the larger 100 series rings in the body anyway.

I rebuilt one for a friend of mine and another one for a client. Overall they are really well built and fairly straight forward to work on. If you want someone to do the work I can manage it. Shipping won't be cheap though assuming you are not around Portland or.

I'm betting the regulator seat is shot though. I know I replaced the one in my buddies launcher so I'm guessing it was something I either had or could get my hands on so that's good news for you at least

in looking at the reg, do you think it could be replaced with an LPR? I did pick up a rebuild kit from O-ring monkey. The white Orings look like ones found in a mag so if the Oring monkey parts kit wound work ill try some mag seals. I havent gone any further than the front regulator assembly.

It is an LPR. If you are asking if you can replace the whole thing with a separate regulator, I don't see any reason you couldn't. If I remember right it needs around 150-200 psi so just pull the regulator seat out so it just bypasses any air that comes in and run any standard regulator into the vertical ASA. You won't be able to remove the stock reg unless you get some custom parts machined but bypassing it should be easy enough

i assume you are using a bucket changer to run CO2 so from the reg just figure out an elbow and mount the bucket

I had figured it should be easy to do. I was able to resurrect it on the stock listed seals. I used a bottle Ring and and the rest of the stock Orings, I gave them all a good dose of white grease as well. Im not sue if it was a side effect of doping it up with the grease but the velocity seems quite low. with the barrel leveled out im only pulling about 30-40 feet with a nerf football. I may try to rig the LPR tester to see what im getting as reg output. I appreciate your input on this, I do plan on replacing the seals with the new kit when it comes in.
