    DIY Reg Seat Replacement Options

Calling all techs, tinkerers, and fans of older markers: has anyone had success with making their own regulator seats?

I go through a fair amount of markers and have had to buy several adjuster and piston assemblies lately due to failure of the small, plastic/rubber/idk reg seats housed in those assemblies. While I don't like paying $20 to replace a 5 cents part, my primary concern is how to repair these same markers when parts are no longer available. The supply of rebuild kits and OEM reg seats for older markers is already exhausted in most cases, and I'm sure the stock of hard parts will follow suit. As such, I'm hoping someone has sourced reg seat material and successfully cut and used their own seats. I'd like to be able to do this for a variety of markers, but my main interest is in Planet Eclipse and Dye markers.

    Any input is appreciated!

I have done so several times.
sometimes you can fit an o-ring and call it quits.
I've also cut silicone gasket and machines teflon seat.

I'm not familiar with the DM seat, have a pic?

I make ego 8 reg seats that are for sale right now on eBay.

I have these at home I can grab a picture. They are just a puck though, nothing special, I'm confused why you are trying to make them though, they shouldn't be that hard to find

I used a 1/16” sheet of 90 durometer polyurethane punched with a 3/16” diameter hammer driven hole punch. Both from McMaster-Carr.

Yeah, I didn't realize they were readily available until I searched for a pic.

Thank you for all the responses, everyone. I'm going to try a few of the options mentioned here to see what works the best for my application. Thanks!

Bumping this with a specific request: does anyone have a replacement for the Planet Eclipse zick 2 rammer cap bumper or a height measurement for said bumper? Link to bumper: http://paintballshowcase.com/planete...ercushion.aspx

The bumper on my Ego11 is the consistency of Vaseline so I do not have one to compare to/copy, and I can't find them in stock anywhere.

Have you tried the planet eclipse website? A ego 11 is recent enough that they may still have parts.

Yes, I did. I was impressed by the amount of older rammer parts they have, but I did not see the rammer bumper / cushion that I need. I'll send an email to their US support tomorrow and see if they have any.

I've been producing a ton of older reg seals, rubber detents and the like. My online store is a wreck right now (the host changed "templates" on me and I haven't had time to fix it) but as soon as I had a chance, I have like a dozen kinds I was going to post.

And the last time this subject came up, I made an offer, which still stands: If you need a reg seal or other small rubber/urethane part, and I don't already have it, if you can send me an original (used or not) and I can reproduce it, I'll give you a supply for free.

If you don't have a good one, either let's network a bit to try and find one I can borrow to measure, or I may need the gun/reg/part in question, to measure and reverse-engineer.

I already have a stack of materials in different thicknesses and hardnesses, a significant supply of punches and fixtures, and a pretty good setup for molding urethanes.

                Doc.

Have you had success casting urethane seals? It's always been in the back of my mind to do some cupseals in that manner but was unsure of the longevity

Hey doc, there are two things I know of that are needed.

Angel A1 detents for one-piece eye covers

                Ion solenoid armatures.

-Already in the works. I made a run of 3-piece detents at least a year ago, and sent several sets off to people to try out, but I haven't much heard back. Probably in part due to 2020-in-general, but I really wanted to get some solid feedback before I started cranking them out.

I haven't had a great deal of time to chase those guys down, either. I will say the 3-piecers work just fine in my A1.

I was working on some molds for the one-piece style, but the guy I borrowed a test marker from needed it back. Been looking to borrow another to finish up the molds.

                  Ion solenoid armatures.
-Easy. It's been a while since I have an Ion in the shop, so if somebody can lend me a 'noid with an armature in reasonably decent shape (so I can get some proper measurements) I don't see any reason I couldn't make those.

                  Doc.

I have a spare Ion solenoid armature I can send, but no solenoid housing at the moment. Do you need both, or will the armature be enough?

I also managed to find a PE Zick2 rammer cap bumper in my parts and will hopefully have a spare LPR piston w/ seal next week (piston used in 08 - 11 egos, I believe). If these are ones you are interested in reproducing and need originals to measure, I can take measurements or will mail the parts to you. (I'd like to keep the rammer cap bumper as spares aren't available anywhere and I want to use my Ego11, but if you need the part to take your own measurements then I can be egoless for a while.)

Bumping this to see if anyone has had success making solenoid gaskets. I am mainly interested in the Dye / Proto Gasket: https://www.ansgear.com/Dye_Solenoid...igasketdm6.htm . You can't tell from the pic, but it is not a flat gasket. It sits in a channel on the noid and seals to the body (which is flat).

If anyone knows a store that has them in stock, that would also work.

Have you tried calling Dye's tech department?

Reviving this thread. I have several Evil Detonators that I use/used on my b2k's back in the day because in my experience they were inexpensive and pretty bomb proof. Now, they're pretty out of age, but completely rebuildable with off the shelf parts, minus the reg seat. Going to see if I can get a good picture and some dimensions this week as it appears to be a pretty simple "puck" shape.
