Repairing Cartridge Valve stem / cup seal

Before I post a WTB for a new cart valve stem / cup seal / piercer (what exactly IS that part called?) I thought I'd ask here:

is it possible to replace or repair the seal itself, rather than swapping out the whole part?

At the moment, for the price I'll probably pay for a new part, it's not really worth my time. But I don't think these parts will get easier to find with time (though Palmers might make them still as long as they are open).

I accidently melted one out when I was attempting to solder a loose "pressed-in" pierce rod back into the stem. I cut a piece of EPDM sheet and glued it in. It worked for awhile.

The valve stems are cheap enough and plentiful that its just easier to buy a new one and toss the old ones in a pile.

If you get one from PPS, hopefully you get one that’s in spec.

I have used o-ring glued in there with great results
I wrote a how to in the sheridan section a while back

This is what I had in mind, but wasn't sure if it would work. What o ring size did you use, and what did you use to glue it in place?

Did you remove the existing seal and replace it with the o ring? Or did the o ring go over the existing seal?

I removed the old seal, melted/burnt the old one.
The o-ring that fit is metric (I dont remembrer the exact size, i need to find it in my notes).
I then used cyanoacrylate (super glue) to glue it in place

Ive had this with a 3D printed 12g seal in a PGP for about a year and a half ...

Cool! I have a metric kit if you remember. I can use trial and error too of course. I might give this a whirl: not like I have anything to lose.
