The Imperial XO, John Piper is the head ref at Adventure Games, so I am absolutely running Empire with the AG Crew this time around. A couple of the AG home teams and OSG teams are expected to come in on Empire side as well.

I had previously decided that I wouldn't return to APE after a couple unfortunate attempts to play there. Seeing that most of you guys and some AG/OSG players are playing together this year might change my mind. Worst case I'll just hangout in the parking lot.Last edited by ChuckLove; 01-09-2023, 06:45 PM.

bobthebot I have to let it be known that my field standards are relatively high due to the amount of fields I have been to over the past 20 years. With that being said, there seems to be an overall lack of thought and organization. Last year's Hoth was terribly one sided with no attempts to change or help the situation. Their fill stations additionally never seem to go above 3k.
Then a few months later, a few members on here, and a couple of my buddies joined me there for a regular walk-on day. It was a pretty light day player count wise but we tried to make the best of it. We had a ref apparently on his first day reffing paintball (from what I'm told). He decided to play "Fortnight" and other video game formats which were just awful. To top it all off my friend who came with me went to air up his tank and the fill station broke. The field manager blamed him for breaking the fill station by simply attempting to fill his tank. I did play a single game that day despite driving the 90min to get there and for entry.
I'm not trying to bring negativity to the field/thread, it just left a sour taste in my mouth. I'll give it another go at Hoth this year. This will be my 4th Hoth and I have to say the first two years were a great time!Last edited by ChuckLove; 01-10-2023, 11:45 AM.

bobthebot The issues I’ve had aren’t really with APE, but more the Hoth event. Like any big event, it can draw some….less than desirable paintballers.
Rule of thumb, the bigger the event the more A-holes that will attend. To NONOBLITUS ‘s point, move on if you end up in a toxic area.

ChuckLove I get that. The field terrain is great and the staff are nice people (especially the one guy who shows up to ref open play days), but a lot of the games seem to devolve into disorganized mucking about.
I still feel it's worth it to show up, even for the terrain alone.

I would call this a correct appraisal of the situation at ape and the Hoth event. This is one of the biggest games of the year for the field, and one of the poorest run events the last few.Ape is one of the nicest fields and really my home field, but have taken to the road checking out new fields the last year. I am attending with high hopes the staff can balance the teams and ref a great game as it once was there. For me this they’re last chance to stop the crap I’ve witnessed and be the field we all expect. I really hope to meet many of you there, and have a chance to meet some folks I haven’t. Hoping for a decent day in February, and some fellow pump players to enjoy it with.
