Hey folks,
Been torn on this one for about a week, but decided this morning that I should be a better person. I had these headbands designed (by @Budster) for my Pumpapalooza Event coming up in August. I had this idea that I wanted something cheap to remember each event by, if it became an annual thing. A souvenir of sorts. A collectable. You get the idea. However, I was talking to a friend of mine in Florida about his life and mental health struggles and thought maybe I can do something to help.
So, I have a friend in Florida who has been dealing with mental health issues for a long time now. His drinking became out of control with a recent divorce. That, coupled with his anxiety at work causing him to sweat profusely ended w/ an ER visit from severe dehydration and liver and kidney issues that the doctors believe are still plenty reversible, if he gets his life back in order. He's been sober for a month now. We were actually visiting him this past weekend and he ordered his virgin drinks while we all hung out at the resort. (We covered most of this trip) I was happy to see it. Anyways, in addition to quitting drinking, he's also started seeing a therapist who has pulled him from work and is heavily recommending he go into an outpatient program until she sees he is fit to go back to work. He has agreed. While the therapist can ensure his job is safe during his absence, she can't force them to pay him during it. He's fallen behind on bills and up until now, our mutual friend and his family have assisted with the rent. They are working out the final details of the therapy program and which one specifically would best suit his needs. Duration of the outpatient program is unknown, as it's at the therapists discretion.
I am hoping my game is a hit and can be run annually in some iteration and if this happens, this feels like a good trend to start. Each year we can pick someone in need or a charity to raise some funds for.
Every year, I intend to do a different theme, so each headband will reflect that.
For now... this is my plan.
The price per headband is $20 and $10 from each sale will go to help the recipient; in this case, a close friend of mine in Florida, in need.
For now, these will only be available to local guys and folks coming to the event. However, if other people want to cover shipping and can think of a cheap way to ship these out (I always just use flat rate, not exactly appropriate here), I'd love to open this to everyone for the additional cost of shipping. Unfortunately, I am not currently in a position to cover additional shipping.
*Unfortunately, in order to get these in time for the game, I'm going to have to put orders in ASAP. So, I'll probably have to get everyone in by the end of the month, at the latest.
My PayPal is: Chris.Dickerman@gmail.com (I do ask this is send friends&family or fees are covered due to the nature of the sale.)
My Venmo is: @ChrisDickerman (Picture is of an old 80's trike)
And please post up your name here once you've paid.
Thank you!
