    Pump Day at Cousins Paintball?

    Hey all,=

I moonlight as a ref at Cousins and would love to get a pump event on the calendar, maybe get a band to play? Anything i should know before reaching out to the cousins management and asking them for a date? Do folks playing pump usually spring for a private ref? Special, high end paint we should have? What have made events successful in the past? Only VSC or open pump?

    Let me know!

Here is what I used to do (but so haven’t organized anything outside outlaw ball in a couple years)

1 - Get some feelers out for some dates people could make it and check to be sure you’re not lining up with other pump dates.

2 - pick a date and post in the NE section with your rule/expectations and info.

3 - call and schedule a private game. Most fields understand you might not be able to fill your quota, and they just have you go off with walk-ons.

We are pretty spoiled and have some fields that allow us to self-ref. I have gotten private refs before (we always tip them at the end). Unfortunately, paint is what it is. You hope for the best (especially in pump)

#1 Tip I can give you - play a lot of games and people will continue to go to your event. If you have a lot of downtime between games, it turns a lot of players off.

last thing…and it might be an unpopular….there are too many pump games on the calendar as it is. They are starting to take away from each other. I realize this is kinda like bitching that I have TOO much money…but some of us can only go out 1 or 2x a month (if that).

So where there are multiple games scheduled in a month, a lot of us have to pick and choose….it’s hurting numbers at a lot of games.
That said, I like small games on big fields in the woods (so it really doesn’t bother me)…but if you need numbers for a private game, keep that in your mind.
Make sure there isn’t a popular game the month you’re planning to schedule your game)

Last time I went to Cousins the 3hr trip took me 5hrs. The drive is infuriating and the roads are horrible. I’m a hard pass on repeating that day. Nothing personal but the location is terrible. I remember it being very expensive to play there to.

I was thinking of the one in Long Island, I also played at a Cousins indoor down there and some thug threatened to shoot me (real gun), because I bunkered him playing Xball. I don’t think it’s even open anymore.

I played a big magfed game at the NJ location (the last one they let stock class markers in on) the field was fun played well. But again NJ TP turns into a parking lot on the way home.

I use to play a lot down there back in my Xball days. All the pump players are North of the city from what I have seen. There was talk about a pump day at Jim’s place Long Live I haven’t played there in years but the fields look cool.

I was going to talk to Dean/Steve about running something at the Long Island location but got sidetracked during the fall.

The problem is always going to be turn out for long island and I'm not doing the jersey location because I might as well relocate out of state fighting my way to Long Island back from Jersey on a Sunday night.
