Being transferred there in a few months. What’s the area like? Fields to play? I’m coming from Cleveland which is dismal at best. Happy to possibly be going somewhere I can play year round.

I lived in NOLA for 2 years back in the 90s. Went to play at an outdoor field just on the other side of the river. Coming from Chicago, one item surprised me. During player orientation, the ref suggested, before you move into cover, such as a bush or small grass patch, shoot into it to scare out any snakes or alligators. Not sure how true this was, or he was just messing with the non-locals. Anyway, it became a tradition for me. Shoot first before moving forward. Also with fire ants, I tended to give up on crawling Overall I played maybe 5-6 times over 2 years and had a blast. Also, NOLA is close enough to major Texas cities to play big games - I drove to Dallas for a few and also Florida is an easy drive (Waynes World)

Keeping the thread alive: I cannot recommend LAX paintball in Slidell enough. They were open today, despite the recent hurricane. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable who seems to carry a strong passion for the sport and is trying to revitalize the scene in the area. The facility has indoor latrines and concessions. FPO, but their prices are good and stock quality paint. If your in your in the NOLA area, the atmosphere alone is worth the short drive.

We had a group of NOLA area players show up at Southern Alabama Paintball over Labor Day weekend, said they were tired of sitting around in the dark without AC so decided to head east to the closest field that wasn't affected by Ida. Were any of y'all from this thread in that group?

Following up:
Paintball Command has re-opened. They seem to cater mainly to the rental / rec ball players with a large woodsball field that can include their hyperball field.
LAX has expanded to having 2 airball fields In addition to their "Containers" map and woodsball field. It's been a few months since I've been out but they were also working on a dirt mounds field. I can not recommend LA Extreme (LAX) enough. The owner and his crew really do a great job of running his field and this place is packed on Sundays with the tournament crowd.
I have not been to Gulf Coast PB or Phil's yet. I'm not completely sure if Phil's has opened since Hurricane Ida.
On average, I'm on the field 3 days a month for the last year and have only ran into 1 other pump player. It would be great to organize an MCB day or at least get a pump crew to help proselytize .
