I know, I know - ol' carpet bobs has a bad rap amongst, well almost everyone, but my kids and I have been regulars for a few months now because its woodball for one - also 10 minutes from my house, and if its 98 degrees in Napa its 85 at the jungle with shade and a cool breeze off the bay, and honestly - we've had a great time- the paints been fine and reasonably priced, the regulars i see have been friendly and fun to play with, Bob and karen seem to be making a concerted effort to come through and talk to everyone- so I'm putting the word out here whenever i go, and hopefully see a few MCB'ers give it another shot, cause playing in the valley in the summer with no trees- uggg

Despite carpet bob’s rep, I too have actually had decent fun at the jungle. if you take bob out of the equation, it’s actually a decent outing more often than not.
Supposedly there is also a stock class group that meets once a month over there. Unfortunately I’ve yet to find time to meet up with them but I would love to play some stock class on a more regular basis again.Rockin' a Phantom and a T2...CCI & CCM for the win.

Ahhh the famous hornets game. so much of their advantage comes from the opposing team already having lost the game in their head walking onto the field due to their bad rep, and no one willing to organize and strategize. For the most part they win by having a good strategy and playing well together, counting on a disorganized bunch on the opposing team. it is possible to beat them if you have a motivated group of fast movers willing to try to get behind them on the break, and they will call themselves out if you shoot them enough times - then complain bitterly about it, but hey - they ask for it with a 30 year reputation, and I really have no qualms about it anymore. if i get shot I also like to watch them from the sidelines - I think it helps them clean up their act a little.
when I played there regularly 25+ years ago the hornets had the same rep, but there was always huge crowd there, often with some great groups players who took it upon themselves to really put up a fight, and took it as a challenge - and the hornets regularly got the shit shot out of them and lost.
Its easy to look at the negatives and go somewhere else, but the positives of that field (location, shade, woodball, big fields) far outweight the negatives in my book and if good people start playing there on the regular then everyone cleans up their act, and it becomes a good field again. they aren't stupid - they've been there 30+ years - how many fields can claim that. I see a real effort on their part to make people feel welcome since i gave it another shot. i think they realized it went in a bad direction for to long and it hurt business.
